If you are interested in staying home later in marriage (such as when you have kids), I highly recommend living off one income from the very beginning of your marriage! Use the other income as savings or something, but prepare for when you only have one.

Plus learning skills that you don't have to pay others for, sewing, cooking, baking and budgeting. Even cleaning your house and doing minor repairs when your husbands not home. Learning to create a weeks( or more!) Menu based on what's on sale or what you have on hand. Using leftovers so they don't go to waste. Learning these skills while caring for small children isn't impossible but it is extremely hard.

I'm 45, been a stay at home mom for 20 yrs. Happily married. Husband is a truck driver and makes great money. But we still sacrificed things for ourselves, in favor for the girls. I was made to feel less than around most of my peers. But my girls 20 &17 are both doing great! Oldest is going to nursing school, has a long term bf, lives in her own and works at a nursing home. That's great, Nice to see someone sticking with the husband and working as a Unit. Also, If she's gonna be a Nurse soon, Please Beware of the Environment and Nurse Friends she keeps. Cheating is encouraged and is rampant in the Nurses. Almost every male In the hospital environment warns about it. Hundreds of men /BFs/ husbands write to Men's chanels how they were destroyed and betrayed by their Nurse Spouses/GFs . I hope she makes the right choices and is the exception to the rule.

I'm 30 and been a stay at home mom for 6 years, my husband is also a truck driver. We also have sacrificed many things for ourselves. Unfortunately my husband's job doesn't pay well at all, he's looking for a different truck company that may be able to pay him more. His main issue is the hours and the pay, sometimes he's on the road all week and barely gets paid anything, sometimes he's not working at all because there isn't any loads to pick up which then means there is no pay at all. We have 3 kids (mine, his, and ours). His daughter is an adult with a baby of her own that comes over often. And my sister lives with us and she's new to the adult life and still needs me to help her. So I'm constantly running around doing kids stuff. We tried me working outside the home and it helped financially a bit until I got laid off, but the house went to shambles because I was barely home. We have found it's best that I'm at home for the sake of the kids and the house, but hurts us financially.

Something I did to make sure my husband was happy day to day is I asked him what three things at home bother him the MOST when they're NOT done. Dishes, and running out of clean clothes/socks. He didn't even have a third one. Now I do those first, every day and he acts like I hung the moon for him, even if I'm not able to do anything else. I can see that the floors need vacuuming and bathrooms need cleaning, but doing what makes him feel the most comfortable makes us both happy. :)

I'm 21 years old and I feel blessed for content like this. Thank you Cynthia! I still think I'll work part time or as a freelancer, but I absolutely agree with you. Women are now expected to work both outside and inside the house, but also to always look impeccable and cultivate their femininity. My mother used to take care of all the house chores even though she worked just as much as my father. She had a burnout and they went through a very bad divorce. He wouldn't even agree on getting a maid at least once a week once my mother had my sister and me. So she would take us children to kindergarten or to our grandparents', go to work, get home, cook dinner and clean the house. My father would do the bare minimum and still complained when she basically lost it and found himself another woman. He's a great father and I love him so much, but I will never ever want a husband like this.

My boyfriend is so supportive of me in this, and whenever issues come up at work in the office, he always tells me how excited he is for the day when I don't have to work outside the home. I would also add that working experience before homemaking can be very beneficial for your productivity and for having an even better perspective on homemaking especially if you work "femenine" type of jobs. I worked as a teacher for elderly people and it helped me so much with my communication skills. After that I worked in a coffeeshop and I couldn't believe how much effort it is put behind it. It made me realize if I can do so much for strangers then i can do the same or even better for my family cause I d care even more! It made me undergo a lot of stressful moments but at the end of the day it felt like "wow I can make so many coffees/food in a day and clean so much and be kind to so many people in a day! I'm looking forward to have kids and be like that with them in my house! If I can do it in a job I definitely can do it better in my house!"

I know you talk about this on your channel, but the hate is real toward more traditional women (especially housewives who don't have children for one reason or another.) I've noticed even on Reddit threads, women who want to stay home are called lazy and leeches. I've had a little bit of confusion around my desire to work part time so I can stay home and help my husband who works full time and is in school full time. As a former executive that went homemaker in my late 20’s it was find for quite sometime having frequently seeing other women in the same position due to our children growing up. Events, activities etc you’re constantly busy however when the children grow up that all slips away. If you didn’t go to college and therefore so don’t have a thriving “side hustle” you can maybe then venture in or have changed completely with what you enjoy this is a perfect time to start learning even at home. Late to the party but have developed this for myself in the online journey I developed new skills by doing online courses (not college courses but others) in areas I enjoy, Skillshare to also learn better tech skills or creating, speaking etc and numerous others some as long as 6-12 month training courses online. This is such a great video, I have been living for your videos and being a traditional woman and an shm, these tips have really helped me with that :). I hate the whole thing of "pick me" as well when it is really being overused just like how if a guy does anything nice for a girl they get called "simp" people love to throw insults at people as a way to almost shut them down to make themselves feel better, it's like yes there's nothing wrong with wanting to be a catch. Also, I do wanna say too that for young women when they see housewives they usually see the "real" housewives and things like that, but if your gonna sit down and talk to your husband about being a housewife, homemaker, or stay home mom then you need to have a clear conversation about what roles you're going to be doing like if your gonna be a housewife there is a certain aspect of expectations that are expected. Like if your man is gonna be out and working and providing then it should be expected that the home will at least be tidy(I'm not saying spotless, but at least tidy), not just sitting down all day on social media and letting the house get messy. Idk that was just something I thought about when my bf and I talked about me wanting to be a stay home mom. I also agree with you Cynthia about maybe finding ways to supplement income at home, like being a KZbinr, or having an Etsy shop or even you can substitute teach part-time and you don't even need to have a teaching degree to be a sub. Great video as usual and you look amazing

Great points! I really enjoyed this video. I'm a young woman in my 20's, and expecting my second kid, and personally, I find being a stay at home mom to be so fulfilling and rewarding. I'm thankful that my husband and I are in 100% agreement that it's the healthiest thing for our family. Yes, it annoys me how in movies (like the new Mulan), where it's portrayed as SUCH a negative thing that her parents want her to marry someday and Gasp! Be a good mother. The parents are portrayed as out of touch and having this archaic women-oppressor attitude that's threatening to stifle her dreams and prevent her from being herself. But this is the message I see everywhere! The world sends this message that the pinnacle of success is climbing the corporate ladder, and Planned Parenthood is constantly act like being pregnant is going to prevent women from going to college and living their dreams. But they don't acknowledge that being a mother is a lot of people's dream! Education is so important, and I'm so glad my parents encouraged my education, so please don't misunderstand me, but I've noticed that for many women, well, their dream is to have a family, and they're so embarrassed of admitting that that is what they want in life, and they don't know what they want to study in college, but they go anyways just because it's the "smart" thing to do, so they take on 60-80K in debt, and it forces them to work into their mid-30s to pay it off, when all they really wanted was to have a family and stay home with their kids, but now they can't afford to because of finances and school loans. It's really sad. They only end up working in their careers long enough to pay off their loans, and then they realize that their biological clock is ticking and finally reach a place where they can leave their career to finally go live their dream of staying home. I know that it's not for everyone, and I salute and support all the talented women in our workforce, but also, quit demonizing us homemakers!

This is so true. You have the exact same values as me and it helps me so much to find someone like you. This year I have taken a year of after university and my fiancée and I have been living together now. He works full time. Before we never thought that I could be a stay at home wife and later mum. But I slowly got into being more traditional and I showed him your videos and he now sees how valuable I am to him. I take care of his emotional, mental and physical health. And I can do that because I have the time to do that. Before that I couldn’t do that because i was busy with work. Now he loves the idea of me being at home. So to all the ladies who want to stay home and you haven’t had this discussion with your fiancee/ husband just start slowly. And show him how valuable you would be as a stay at home wife/ mum. For example I started watching your videos on our tv and he got interested in this lifestyle as well

I am a homebody, I love being a traditional wife despite excelling academically. Many women are turning their backs on the rat race to find what truly matters. Re dating, I'd say date intentionally, not just for the sake of it and respect your body. Seek a hubby who is kind... Kindness is beautiful x

CYNTHIA! I think this may be one of my favourite videos of yours, it is so so full of wisdom and fantastic and well-grounded advice. You always preset your points well, but this video really captures a lot of little bits and pieces that I feel just aren’t spoken about enough. That this lifestyle is a privilege. That we need to balance this lifestyle with our modern culture and sometimes that looks like part time work. This is such a beautifully inclusive and helpful video 🧡

Have you ever thought about adorning your home with Catholic Christian art? I’ve done this over the past few years and it’s so beautiful. It really helps me stay close to Christ and the Saints. I also rotate the art for the seasons, both the general calendar and the liturgical year. These little devotions can also inspire your guests to become more devoted as well. 🙏🏻

“Home-Centered Life” I think that’s a wonderful way to look at traditional womanhood. Psalm 31 describes the virtuous woman and wife as someone who also goes out into the world and trades to make money. However, the core of her life and even her “business” is done at home, not in an office. I would say that this is the way you, or anyone like you, could fight against those who may call you hypocritical for being a “traditional wife” with a KZbin channel. Many hard core trad men and women would outright reject your trad definition and way of life, but I believe Psalm 31 justifies it, as long as your business never takes you away from your duty. 🙏🏻Ave Maria🙏🏻

I work outside the home as well as caring for the house and my family. I could quit my job tomorrow (we don’t need the $) but my husband supports my love for my job and the personal satisfaction it gives me. I do 90% of the cooking, cleaning, choring of animals and gardening. I am not overworked, oppressed or under appreciated. My husband is an amazing man and father. We have been together 13 years and he is my best friend. I do all of this for my community and family very willingly and happily. It means getting up 3 hours before work to get chores done, make breakfast, and check the garden. It means coming home and jumping back into cooking, cleaning, homework, etc. (We have 3 children.) I consider myself a very traditional wife and partner despite not being at home full time. I am also very fortunate to have the role I do for my family, no matter how busy it may be some days ❤

Hi Cynthia, I hope you are doing fine😊 Thank you for another great video! I hope to be a traditional wife one day and making my home a safe comforting place to be from the outside fast pace world. For me working full time and managing all the household tasks causes burnout. I feel like it will be harder as time progresses to stay at home, for me in the Netherlands it is almost impossible to buy a house on two fulltime incomes, so on one income is not possible. We have a large houses shortage which also doesn't really help.. I hope the generations after us get the choice to stay at home and it doesn't go extinct. But I am a little scared.
@CynthiaL3 жыл бұрын
I hope you can do it someday! 💛 It is also getting expensive here in Canada as well. I think another way to look at things could be to try to find a job that will let you prioritize your family or be more in line with your feminine energy, which could help with burnout. I know things aren’t as easy, but I do hope you can find the best balance for you 💛

Cynthia, how do you respond when asked in person what you do for a living/where you work? I am finding it a challenge to have the right words to say, as I want to showcase that homemaking is a lot of work, but also represent it well, in a good light. Of course most today do not see it either way. So, I immediately feel like not enough of a woman when other women ask me this because it’s basically immediate judgement and criticism on their face and a huge shell shock. I’d like to figure out how to answer this question simply and beautifully. I am continuing to learn how to not care about other’s opinions, but like I mentioned I have this burden to answer well so I can really showcase how much of a blessing and joy it is! 🌷💗
@saramations3 жыл бұрын
I feel like honesty is going to be the best policy. No matter the answer, I feel like "what's your job?" It's going to often lead to a judgemental situation. That's just how it is... It's not good or bad, just the truth. You also need to be confident in your answer and keep the conversation going. 😇

What if you don't get asked out by traditional men? I find that the men I have met in the past seem to want the women to be career driven and the men I have met at church are either already taken or they just don't ask me out. I'm also older, so I am worried that men will think I'm some crazy cat lady.

Yes, sometimes it is ok to show that you are interested in someone. The worst that can happen is they say no, and that is actually a good thing because then you can move forward and find someone who indeed is interested. Have you tried online dating perhaps? Of course it's reasonable to want to be a great catch and an asset! Pick me is something different and considered negative because some women have low self esteem and bend over backwards to get or keep a man like sleeping with him before she's actually comfortable doing so or over exhausting herself by trying to do everything like work full-time, do housework and care for kids or family members. It's basically not seeing your own power as a woman because you're not only to be picked but also can pick someone yourself! But a woman can be a pick me wether she works a regular job full-time, part-time or not at all. In my opinion it has nothing to do with a more traditional lifestyle (although some people may say so). It's more about how you treat yourself and allow others to treat you. Being provided for by a husband and doing some cooking and cleaning in return is not pick me behaviour if you're happy and your husband appreciates you!

I feel like a lot of feminists think that we are being "forced" to live this kind of life, when really it's our own personal choice, and not something we see as a burden necessarily. It's only a burden if we are with the wrong man.

I think the other commenters have a good point! I don’t think there’s anything wrong with showing him some of your skills in the sense that for example, you cook him a dinner as a date night idea. I have also heard of some girlfriends cleaning up their man’s space as a gift *once and a while* but making it clear it is a gift and not a normal occurrence. I think having an open conversation about your expectations of marriage and stepping into that role once you’re married, is a good idea. Of course communicating your expectations clearly but with love is the best way to go. ☺️
@josephinenelan42043 жыл бұрын
That sounds manipulative. Hope you are given discernment over this ❤️ The best example for your homemaking abilities before marriage are how you keep *your* home/room (not his). If you cook for yourself and clean up your place, then clearly you know what you're doing.
