To make understanding the difference between interior designer and interior decorator easier it is this. Interior designer will need to know autocad or similar tool knowledge to design your home. For example designing your kitchen, like how much measurement or size to put in making the cabinets so that it's functional. Interior decorator will do works like choosing which curtain , which sofa or which painting to buy to make your house look good.

Very interesting video. My uncle was an Interior Architect. His specialty was designing restaurant kitchens. I wish I'd have known more of what he did when I was young and maybe followed his path. Unfortunately I didn't know how respected in the business he was until after his death and a colleague of his was telling everyone about how he went to get a building permit for a design he was working on and the official told him that if my uncle approved of it then they'd issue the permit. Like I said, wish I'd known more. Maybe I would have been able to make something of myself.

so with your definition: Architect create a shell and interior walls meet client's program requirements. than Interior designer take over to decided finish faces, include cabintrys ... Does Interior Designer need to draw interior elevation or interior elevation are supply by architect for interior designer to note the finish material only. where is the cut off line of each profession ? Say for a commercial restaurant, who decided appliance location within the space? appliances location are relate to space planning. is it more Architect responsibility ?

Hi, if you like warm lighting for living spaces such as living room, bedroom, family rooms, it works. for drawing, studying, reading is better to pick a neutral color temperature (4000k approx)

@Tolulope Abigail Maybe minor in Interior Design/Architecture and get a Masters in Architecture especially if you plan to become a licensed architect. At the university I attended there is a lot of overlap of architecture and interior architecture/design program.

I Appreciate your valuable efforts and thoughts on teaching us interns. If we complete 12 modules then can we achieve virtual certifications also. We already are in foreign countries And I'm in Gulf country Certification will help us to modify professional visa and we can start working from here interior designer firm. Hey Zaira, I am so passionate about being an interior designer . I joined one of the online courses but there was no guidance after I paid the fee and was totally upset about it, they had just given a bunch of materials with no tutorials at all ! I also have one question, do we need to be good at DIY to be an interior designer , I do not even know how to use a power drill .
