You remind me that 52 years ago, during Mr. Nixon's superintendence of the late stages of the Viet Nam War - when I was 20 years old and in training to assume a potentially stressful position as an Army MP - one of our instructors frequently repeated a mantra he identified as the 7Ps of the Military Police Corps: "Proper Prior Preparation Prevents Piss-Poor Performance." I recently heard this formula advanced as something also taken to heart by Marines, but the principle can be applied universally to pretty much any sudden stressors in life. Train first your mind carefully and your body will later follow instinctively.
