Switching jobs is a much better way of increasing your income than asking for a raise. Imagine switching jobs and getting a 15% raise vs. asking your boss for a 15% raise. Many bosses will just say that it is "not in the budget" even when the company is making lots of profits.
@hardnthapaint
@hardnthapaint Жыл бұрын
From someone who works in HR, I agree. We are told to say this. But from what I see on the budget and recruitment, they will pay the outsider more money than an employee that has been "faithful" to a company for many years.

I literally had an increase of $30,000 by switching jobs. I’m finally being paid for my years of experience. It was disheartening to see individuals who just got out of school getting paid the same without any experience

@@malaineeward5249 debt is good if you buy assets, not for liabilities. Owning your home is both an asset as a liability so only finance a small part (60-70% max). My house has a mortgage with 1,1% without principal, inflation will eat it alive.

Yes, I have been doing exactly this with each of my small debts that range between 250 - 1500. I pay off minimum to all but I focus on spending the largest to the smallest debts first, eliminating them quickly before adding those minimum payments + the overcharge I was able to spend on the next debt. I've only increased my salary in the past 4 months, but I already went from 0 savings to nearly 700 a month and eliminated half of my small debts. Of course I could pay off all the debt at once now, but since I'm not paying interest until the fiscal year is closed, I haven't done so. By August I will have paid everything off though. The only debt I will never pay off more than minimum is my student debt. At an interest rate of 0% it just sits there, and after an x amount of years my debt is forgiven. If I pay minimum, my debt will be forgiven with around 40k left to pay off, so I save money by not paying.

She references that you can always try to cut spending and add to an high interest savings account, but raising your income is even better. If you can get a trade certification or even a basic associates degree, it will likely boost what kind of pay you can ask for from employers! I know school can be costly but you may be able to get it all or mostly paid for with financial aid. I recommend checking into local community colleges and trade schools if you are considering further education, and see what kind of financial aid you qualify for 👍 (for reference, a lot of trade programs can be completed in 6 months- a year, and an associates takes around 2yrs)

@@bodyofhope Roth IRA’s are pretty popular because you can deposit and withdraw fairly easy, and to my knowledge there’s no restriction on how much you need to start it. Also while your money is in a Roth IRA, you aren’t taxed on it. It’s a popular way to build retirement bc you get high interest and no taxes unless you withdraw funds before retirement

In most of Europe, you don't need to have that much money to live a happy, stable and fulfilled life. You don't need that much savings to retire and not starve or become homeless. You don't have to constantly worry about and strategize about making more money to feel safe and like things are going to be ok.

Depends where in Europe. I m from Romania ....yh...unless u have a good/high pay job that is quite hard to get unless u know someone or have connections even if u have a masters degree, it doesn't go like this...u won t be able to save ..but u will have a pension for sure.... I work in Italy for 10 years ....now that's a good thing. U will have from where to save, u will live decent life , good food, saving a little bit. Now I m in London......it's a.dissaster.. ....unless u make over 30k a year as a minimum u won't be doing much of saving if u have an exorbitant rent to pay or high mortgage. So if your single on on a 25k your struggle is real but the government helps people on low wages. The good thing is that if u have a university diploma u will find a good paid job bit u will also pay more tax....soooooo

You can get a ROTH IRA basically as soon as you start working, part time or full time. You can open up the account with a bank and you can contribute up to $6,000 a year to it. Once you work full time, your employer will probably have a 401k or 403b benefit that you can invest in (most of them will even match some of the contributions you make). Right now, as a teen, you should be able to invest in any brokerage account (like with Fidelity, Vanguard, or Schwab). You could even buy I-bonds too in the U.S.
