That line of "if this is what your school stands for, then it seems we have chosen the wrong school" had so much impact. A man the housemaster deemed "elegant" is now looking down on them all as disgraceful. I can't think of a better way Loid could have stepped on their pride as a school.

That was one of my favorite parts from the episode. It basically turns around the idea how it goes from school accepting children and their parents looking only for the few at the top, those who are elegant and elite among the rest, to how Loid is basically declaring how the school isn't good enough for his standards. It's like Loid saying "No, it's not you who are evaluating us but it's us who are evaluating you.". What makes it even better is that it works only because the housemaster had already a good first impression of Loid. Otherwise it wouldn't really have worked so smoothly. I love how he turned the tables on them although it's understandable that Loid thinks he messed up the whole thing. But yeah, it was a great scene.

This episode made me respect Lloyd a lot more. He gives me the idea of what a true father figure can be. I'm calling it, "best father figure of 2022" goes to Lloyd Forger. He's on par with One Piece's Kyrios from the Dressrosa arc. Another thing, Yor is pretty terrifying and then the craziness everyone went through to not fail the entrance exam is batshit bonkers which evolved to total chaos.

It also was nervewracking to watch Anya stumble her words when answering the questions directed to her. It just dawned on me that Yor and Twilight got super worked up because they themselves are also orphans. Yor had to mature very fast to take care of Yuri, her younger brother. We don't have too many details on Twilight's past, but we already saw the flashback on the first episode of child! Twilight crying in a destroyed area. So, they both know the pain and helplessness of losing both their parents. This serves a two-fold purpose in this scene, one of which also has larger reprecussions on the story as a whole. The more straightforward one is that seeing Anya's tears instantly connects them to the pain that they know so well. What makes things more intense is that this moment comes after they heard her say that she loves them very much and wants to stay with them forever. This was a very powerful moment, because they know they know they are using one another and that's fine. BUT, they are also using Anya. They realised how much they mean to her, which made them very angry on the moment, but it is also the first building block in their actual relationship. Anya is the glue that binds them because dropping an adult is infinitely easier than dropping a child. Especially a child whose pain you know so well and deeply empathise with. This is how human connection form and become stronger.
@marquin76722 жыл бұрын
Many people are rooting for the Forger family to pass the interview. That's why we're rooting for Anya to do her best and answer correctly. This is the most wholesome episode of the series so far for me. The environment they are living in makes me want to go to their world. And that man has no right to bring up Anya's past. Loid requested a different question instead of choosing between Anya's biological mom or Yor. That is truly a downright cruel question that made Anya cry!

Lets not forget Loid's very reason for being a spy was to make sure children never had to cry again. Nobody extended their hand out to Loid when he was crying during his childhood and now seeing a child cry infront of him. His very own (pretend) daughter and after everything Anya said in that interview question about how she felt about her pretend family which clearly that wasnt one of the questions Loid foresaw in their practice. He cant help it but want to beat that guy for doing that. Even if it was a pretend family and it was for his mission Loid broke character and was ready compromise it for Anya. It just goes to show that on a sibconscious level Loid deeply cares for Anya and how he was willing to risk everything to ensure her safety and happiness.

We already know that Yor's parents died when she was young, but if they stick to the manga, Loid's backstory will be even more heartbreaking so I can get why both want to protect Anya to the nth degree. Loid may act distant, but his shell is cracking and Yor is a mother at heart and I know she takes this relationship so much more seriously than Loid, for now.

Anya the Cow Whisperer. Henderson is very elegant; the VA also voiced Bang from One Punch Man so he has history with characters who punch well.

You probably had others say this. But Henry isn't a headmaster. He and the other two guys are 'house'masters of their respective dorms.

To give a fair bit of extra context: Loid and Yor are themselves, orphans. So in including insulting them and belittling Anya, Swan obviously struck a few too many nerves with them. You can truly do see murder in their eyes for a few moments.

I think Chibi's forgetting that we HAVE seen Anya cry. In Episode 1, no less. Brawling her eyes out while Loid-disguised-as-Edgar's-henchman carried her out of the building she was being held in. Granted, it took being kidnapped and watching a man get shot by a pistol with a silencer to get her to cry, so I think his point still stands.
