Great vids! I used to build rc-airplanes when I was younger. I had a K.O.Digiace and some Futaba transmitters. both AM and FM. I trimmed throws manually on the servo horns and adjusting the length of the actuator. Mostly built my airplanes from drawings and using wood. Now I’m in my middle age and got a couple of modern transmitters, one is a Taranis x9dse2019 and the other multi protocol Jumper T-Lite. Both run OpenTX and the abundance of settings just in these makes me feel dizzy/lost. I also got som receivers, using the ACCESS protocol, a R-XSR, and some FrSky Archer glider receivers also. I have yet to try to register and bind AND make a model memory for my first airplane using the Taranis controller and the R-XSR receiver in a ZOHD Drift. Greetings from Finland! Wish me luck, this new gear isn’t easy for us old timers!

Hi @Mr.D . May you please give your expert input on this issue: I am using a TX12 EdgeTX and Jumper R1, Frsky XM+ and Jumper R8 receivers connected to 16ch SBUS decoders. When power is applied to the receiver, they apply signals to channels from dead center to -100 or +100 than back to center (If a servo is connected it will move from center to one side tan back to center). That does not happen to the R8. I tried to configure the failsafe on all available modes but there is no change. Is it a normal behavior for these tiny receivers? Because I need it to keep steady dead center/neutral on all channels when they are powered on just like the R8.

Hi.i have just got a twin x lite,and am having trouble binding my receivers .i have a fr sky x8r accst, a v8fr-11 and a d8r-11 plus. Could you do a video showing how to bind these if poss.and what if anything i should do beforehand.
@MrD Жыл бұрын
This video will show you how to bind the X8R. If it’s not binding, it has the wrong ACCST firmware. Flash it with the latest firmware for your region, and it should bind. The V and D receivers are not natively supported by the Twin X Lite. They use the very old D8 protocol. D8 is no longer legal to make new products for. So the new radios don’t support it. But, you can get an XJT Lite module for the radio which does have D8 support.

Hi Darren, your videos are awesome and have been so helpful! I updated my Horus X10S with ETHOS. I have a V8FR-II receiver, which is an 8 channel ACCST receiver. I can't seem to bind it. There is no firmware update for the V8FR-II on the FrSky website, which seems odd to me. Perhaps it is just so old they never updated it. Still, I thought all ACCST receivers could be bound in ETHOS. Any thoughts? Thanks for all you do!
@MrD3 ай бұрын
That is a pretty old receiver. To use it, you need to have the old XJT hardware. ACCST does work with the new ISRM modules. But only the receivers that use D16 ACCST v2. For the older hardware that uses ACCST D8 or LR12 (the V8FR-II is D8 when in D mode). You need to use an external XJT module or a multi-protocol module.

Sure Mick. To do this, edit the Rudders mix and make note of the settings. Then delete the rudders mix. Next, edit the Ailerons mix and change the settings to match what was in the Rudders mix. You could even rename that mix as Rudders. That should get you what you want. Unfortunately there is no option to select the source in these mixes. That would have made life much simpler.

Can you bind an R9 receiver to x20S I've updated firmware and flashed the r9 to Flex but having no luck
@MrD Жыл бұрын
Yes. Make sure the R9 receiver is on the ACCESS firmware. If you’re using Flex on the receiver, make sure you have also installed the Flex firmware on the X20. Enable the internal module and the 900MHz side. When you register the receiver, make sure to select the correct frequency for your antennas. I’ve bound plenty of old and new R9 receivers. All R9 receivers will work with ACCESS.

You can’t. You need to flash the R9 receivers with the ACCESS firmware. All R9 receivers have ACCESS firmware, so they can work with the X18. The D8R-II is an old D8 receiver. That will not work with the X18. You would need to get an external XJT Lite or Multi-Protocol Module to use the D8R-II.

How do we Ethos bind a model with SR8 pro and R9 Rxs? Say in manual that both bind together - I’m not seeing that

Set the protocol to ACCESS and turn on the 2.4 and bind the SR8. Then turn off the 2.4, turn on the 900 and bind the R9. Then switch the 2.4 back on. The SR8 will need to be the master receiver, or turn off the stabilisation.

what's the proper way to bind a TDMX in conjunction with a tdr 12 or 18? because you can't plug the tdmx into a battery stand alone? you have to plug the tdmx into the master rx for power via sbus in.
@MrD Жыл бұрын
With those receivers, you’ll be plugging in the TD MX using a standard servo plug. So just use thay to power the TD MX. It should be pretty simple with a BEC and a Y lead.
@DEeMONsworld Жыл бұрын
y connector OK, but BEC? This is a gas model no BEC. so you mean just plug a small battery into the one side of a Y adapter and the TDMX into the other? because I'm using high voltage connectors on my flight packs. is it really important to bind the TDMX unplugged from the tdr12? because i didn't and things all seem to be working, blue lights blinking everywhere. I didn't activate channel one as Sbus in until after I bound the TDMX, not by design, but by my ignorance which maybe why it worked. any thoughts?

Great video, but I have a problem that I hope you can help with. I am trying to use a TD-MX receiver as a satellite to the SR8-Pro receiver. Are Frsky Tandem receiver's incompatible with ACCESS receivers? I can register and bind a master ACCESS first receiver, but when I switch to TD mode in the transmitter to register and bind the TM-MX receiver, it just doesn't work. I could not find any information on the Frsky website explaining that you cannot use ACCESS receivers when you are in the TD mode, when the TD is using both 2.4 and 900Mhz. Any assistance is really appreciated, thank you!!
@MrD2 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard. You can only bind the same protocol types of receiver at any time. So ACCST with ACCES, ACCESS with ACCESS, and Tandem with Tandem. So for redundancy, you would need to use an R9 MX with the SR8 Pro; or any other ACCESS receiver with SBUS out. Tandem does use both 2.4GHz and 900MHz. But it isn't just sending out ACCESS simultaneously on the two frequencies. It is doing something different in there to optimise the data transmissions.
@sparksfpv2 жыл бұрын
Wow!! Frsky says that the Tandem 20 series radio does both ACCESS and Tandem (TD) receivers. They fail to mention anywhere that I have seen that one cannot use both ACCESS and TD receivers piggybacked AT THE SAME TIME!! (despite using the same frequencies) I also learned that the Tandem transmitter, if updated to the latest firmware, will NOT bind with the TD-MX reciever with its current firmware, unless it is updated to the 1.0.7 firmware first. I spent several hours trying...lol!! And, thank you for making great videos on this subject!! Please consider incorporating some these issues in your next video if relevant. ✅️😎👍
@MrD2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I'm glad the videos help. That's the most important thing. I think the problem here is assumptions, as well as FrSky could have been more direct. Why assume that Tandem could run with ACCESS simultaneously? Would the same be assumed of Tandem and ACCST? They use the same frequencies, that is true. But so do ACCST and ACCESS, and they can't be used simultaneously from the same transmitter module. Tandem and ACCESS are different protocols, so no reason why the two could be used at the same time in that respect. But, it seems like there are plenty of folks who are thinking that the two can work together, so I will make a video introducing Tandem, and make it clear in there :) Firmware has always been a little bit of a pain. But it's always worth using the latest, stable versions. However, I have looked on the firmware pages for both the X20 and the TD-MX. Both state that receiver firmware 1.0.7 and ISRM 2.2.0 (or above) are needed. Updating the ISRM it states "Note: Please upgrade the Tandem receivers to 1.0.7 or above accordingly."; and on the TD-MX firmware page it states "Note: Please upgrade the Tandem modules to 2.2.0 or above accordingly." So the information is there, at the place the firmware is downloaded. Maybe it could have been put in bold or something to make it stand out more. I will chat with FrSky about this, as I'm sure it will help people out.

Hi, thanks a lot for your videos, they are of great help. I am considering buying the X20: do hou have any evidence of X20 range in 2.4 GHz only (before telemetry is lost and before a signal alert)? I am also planning to buy TD receivers: are you aware of possible interference between the two frequencies or other issues? Thanks a lot
@MrD2 жыл бұрын
Hi Giovanni, thanks; I’m glad the videos have been helpful. I’ve not used the 2.4GHz system in anything other than LOS planes. I have never had a telemetry lost warning while flying. But have been close to the edge of my visual ability. So the 2.4 side works flawlessly for its intended purpose. At least one of those flights was with a 2m glider at over 1000m high and out around 250-500m. The glider was basically a dot in the sky. The 900MHz side is what is intended for range. An there is no problems with that at all. There is a video somewhere of someone (not me) flying 100Km away with control link. There are no interference problems with 2.4GHz and 900MHz. In fact, FPV systems on 900MHz control links quite often used 2.4GHz for the video side, for more range than 5.8GHz.

If I may, another question: I live in Italy but I can find the TD receivers only on non-EU sites (e.g. Banggood). No site says if the Rx is EU-LBT (868 Mhz) or FCC (900+ Mhz) compliant (or both?). Do you know if the Rx come in a single version good for both standards or you must buy specifically a LBT receiver for a LBT Tx?
