Hiya what type of pump is it that comes with the booster then? Showing the installation process could have been really helpful in this video. It was great seeing the difference in pressure, but I felt it was lacking a bit in what kind of pump etc
@JerryDoe6 ай бұрын
Marine engineer here, we use hydrophores and these same devices are installed into homes for boosting the pressure. A hydrophore set is basically a water pump + pressure tank. First of all you need to size your tank depending how many faucets/showers/appliances that you will use at the same time. If you are a family of 4 to 5 people this tank in the video is already overkill, half of that tank is already sized for 12 people !!! Also that pump looks dirt cheap and to small, you need a sizable pump to match your pressure tank or else after 5 minutes of simultaneous use the pressure in the tank is gone and the small pump can't keep up with the demand and isn't made to run very long and will burn. A hydrophore system should not set you back more than $600 for a 4-5 people household and a $1200 for a 12 people household. the pressure vessel is only to build a reserve, your pump needs to be able to keep up that reserve once it runs empty, the sole purpose of this vessel is to keep the pump from turning on every second you open a faucet. If you want to deal with pressure drops between floors, you'll need to add a secondary pressure vessel on the main water pipe on that floor without pump. In some cases you don't even need a water pump, pressure can be ok but the flow is restricted that you only need a pressure vessel on the highest floor to give backpressure from the other direction once flow suddenly drops.

Thanks for video, good to see working. Would be interested to see a video of one in more marginal circumstance without the pump, say where you have 2bar and 17lpm. So flow okay, but pressure not great so issues when multiple outlets used, I think it would work but reduced amount of time? Thanks

Hi I live in 2nd floor new build apartment with an ideal combi boiler fitted. My problem is that the power of my shower is weak On inspection from the water main I have a stop cock tap then an inside non return valve then a water pressure gauge then a Salamander type 2 booster. The water pressure gauge is reading 16 psi and the salamander light is stating on solid when its switch on. Do I have a faulty pump as the pressure remains the same at the showercor taps. Please advise on how do I achieve a good pressure at my shower. Kind regards Thomas Craig

I am not up on the regs for pumped mains water. Under around 8-10 litres/min it could be pumped, with OK from the water company. Above? no. But if you have 1.5 bar static, with abysmal flow, then non-pumped accumulators are wonderful. Been involved with fitting one in a garage to feed a high flow combi, eliminating the loft tank and hot water cylinder. Great way to go. Other makes can have the internal rubber membrane replaced by taking the lid of the accumulator off. Simple job to do.
@AllenHart9994 жыл бұрын
You are allowed to pump 12 l/m
@johnburns40174 жыл бұрын
@@AllenHart999 So, below 12 l/min a pump can be on the mains. I assume that depends on the water authority, and that you have to notify them anyhow.
@@AllenHart999 So below 12 l/min the pump operates, above it cuts out. I rarely come across low water flow from the mains. I suppose it depends on where you are.

Hello Allen, I have fitted a couple of accumulators to feed unvented cylinders........ does this setup qualify as stored water & therefore is it potable?

Definition of potable water is if that water can be poured into a pot so yes. The vessels are designed and accredited to for water that is pottable

these pumps do not stand the test of time and salamander what nothing to do with you when you have an issue. even within warranty period they are looking for any excuse not honour the warranty. these pumps are in most cases only good for the bin once they stop working as salamander do not offer a repair service. and many of the parts are machine pressed and impossible to repair even if salamander will sell you the parts - which they do not! they are also very loud. they market them as some of the quietest pumps on the market which is rubbish. consider a powertank if you have low pressure issues.
