I press and hold the buttons then release and hold again but instead of bringing me to recovery mode, my phone just keeps on restarting over and over as long as I'm holding the buttons...

Good information to know, but can't you accomplish a reboot into recovery via an app like Quickboot?

on my LG G3 for verizon, all I have to do is shut the phone off, then hold down power and volume down and just keep holding them and don't let go until the menu appears.

If you are having troubles and its not working, try only releasing the vol. down button while keeping the power button pressed. It was the only way that I could get it to work.

It has recovery mode they just have locked the phone hard i have korean variant too, u need to root it and only then u will be able to get into recovery mode, but only from pc and even that doesnt give u full control, because as soon as u load up the recovery mode from the pc via usb, the phone disconnects from the pc. U will be able only to factory reset/ cache wipe, thats it. Nothing else will work from that menu such as adb, sd card that wount even show up. Just dont buy Korean stuff, they all are hard bricked/locked... There is one other way, tho it can cost a lot of money witch is bring it to a professional to unlock it.

That sucks Uzrehj. Did you have a custom recovery installed first? Since posting that comment, I have actually done it, and it has NOT done a factory wipe on me, because I have TWRP installed. :)

The default recovery is always stock, put there by the manufacturer. I suggest you head over to the XDA Forums or do some googling to find out how to install TWRP.

I did a serious beginner error the other day, and I'm not a beginner. I flashed KitKat gapps on a lollipop ROM. I had the damnedest time getting into recovery. The factory recovery screen threw me for a loop. I wish this video was up on Sunday, It would have saved me a few grey hairs! I figured out afterwards and it was fine. I had a rough 20 minutes of first world problems.
