Brian's back! I added voice-over but only where it would take too long to explain with text. I love music as well as golf so this is a combination of the two as well as an attempt to provide you, my lovely viewers, with value so you NEVER give this game up and keep on chooglin!
Since we shot the first how to break 100 video in November 2017, Brian has played 9 holes six times. He still hasn't graduated to a full 18 hole player.
Since no-one can accept Brian as a beginner, he has henceforth been re-dubbed, a hacker.
With the chipping and putting basics in place, we took a trip to Poresia Leisure Farms golf and country club in Johor Malaysia to try break 100 for the first time in his life.
After an opening 8 holes to be proud of, things went sideways quickly. Follow along to find out the tips and tricks we picked up to use in conjunction with the other breaking 100 video.
IMPORTANT INFO: I bought Brian new clubs and gave them to him the night before this round. These were his first shots with the clubs and to be honest, the TaylorMade RSi1's are AMAZING.
Brian is allergic to practice and hasn't been to the range not has he done any chipping practice since November 2017.
This round was mainly about plotting your way around a course and also staying strong mentally. Golf needs a lot of concentration. I (Matt) now play off a 5 handicap and the amount of concentration that is required is INTENSE. It's very easy to look at pros and KZbinrs and think this game just comes super easy. It takes practice and concentration.
Stick with it my friends and you will improve. Stick with it...golf is extremely rewarding!
Join the movement that's making golf fun again because there's no ONE WAY to play this game, but MANY ways to HAVE MORE FUN!

Man! I've started using a lot of your tips and the other i went out and shot 104. This may sound high to a lot of you pros out there but to put it in perspective 2 months ago I was up around 120! So I'm stoked with how I'm progressing. Shot bro!

Yes, it’s an old video. Yes, I’ve watched a lot more recent “breaking 100” videos. But this one resonated - and I couldn’t help but give a big fist pump when BDog dropped that last putt. Again, it’s an old video (but first time watching for me) and even knowing he was going to sink it, you couldn’t help but get excited for him! 🤣 Golf needs more channels like this. Thanks Matt!

It has taken me 3 years of consistent practice and play to just now consistently break 100. What was my main issue? MURDERING the ball. With a smooth 3/4 swing I drive 230+ yards in play. Irons are pure as well. I also learned how to get the swing plane from inside to out (slice gone) and finally I always keep 60% of my weight or more on my lead leg when I chip or pitch. But the videos here truly helped me learn how to manage the courses I play here in Florida and mitigate risk/reward scenarios. Thank you for that.... Golf is so much more enjoyable when you can see consistent improvements...

ok I am thinking this is my problem too. I went to the range probabaly 3-4 times out of the 10 days before the round I played on Sunday. I was so sure I was going to have an excellent round where I would finally break 100. I am all over the place though, while my usual miss is hitting the toe and slicing, I am extremely inconsistent when I'm playing poorly. But I am so excited to go back to the range (and hit off grass instead of mats for one as that was definitely a problem this last time) and try to lessen the power a bit. I am so excited to try this!

These vids are great. I retired and am trying to get back the 10 to 12 I played to in the early 80's in league play, It is great to have the time practice every day and play 3 times a week. I would like to improve 20 shots by the end of the summer and these course management clinics your showing are a big help to become whadaplaya. I like the one where your not trying to get it close anymore... you want to hole it. Finally getting use to the Gilligan hats...LOL

I have followed many of your tips and it has vastly improved my game. I have always struggled to break 90 on a regular basis. I normally would shoot in the low 90's. Since employing many of your strategies I have lowered my scores and am shooting in the mid to high 80's more often now. I shot an 88 recently at a local course here and would have done much better had I not made some poor course management decisions and missed some key putts. You have inspired me to share my own story and I plan to start chronicling my own journey to break 90 and shoot lower scores Thank you for this channel and your tips and tricks. Heres a tip. I think it was Nicklaus. Never say where you don't want to go. Don't look at it. Say where you want to go. Look where you want to go. Focusing on something, even to avoid. makes you tend to go there. Anyone trying to break 100, the focus should be bogey golf. Just allow yourself one extra shot per hole, without stressing about it. Don't try to make up shots. if you miss the fairway. Put it out so the next shot is easy. if you make the green in 2 on a par 4, putt stress free knowing you get 3. Bogey golf should always be the first goal. This really is a great channel for people to watch to get more involved in golf.

On holidays and played 9 holes with my brother yesterday. Rented a set at the club and discovered on the first tee that the driver was unusable. Tee'd off with the lowest iron, i6, and tried Matt's advice for the first time. Whilst by brother was out searching for balls in the rough and among trees, I was cruising on the fairway. Shot 4 lower than him. Totally believe in this method!

This was really really really cool to watch. Im capable of shooting high 70s lower 80s where Im at in my golf life now. But I occasionally will still have a round well over 100. That's part of the game. I've played back to back 18's on the same course same day and have shot almost 25 strokes difference. I think that's a big thing to realize as a beginner. We don't get to play enough to be consistent enough to put that much pressure on ourselves. Try to remember the good shots in your car on the way home and forget the bad. Keep at it guys!

Nice video, I‘m trying to break 100 these days. I have a very similar problem with my balance, what is the main issue there in Brians case?

Yet another good one Matt. I think I’m trying too hard, for the effort I’m putting in, the ball does not go far. I’ve had a 109 and a 110. Steve, uk

S As Trying too hard is just over expectation. So what is preventing you from breaking 100? Where are you losing those 10 shots?

I got in a bunker and had 3 attempts to get out of the front then decided to go for the low side, followed by a chip onto the green (5 shots wasted there). I teed off badly with my driver on 4 holes, out of bounds on 2 (4 wasted shots). I did have to 3 putt on a few holes, although on the plus side I also managed to 2 putt on quite a few. (Maybe another 9 shots wasted there). I just need to improve on 2 of those areas and I'll get under 100.
