Hey Matt, I just wanted to thank you for posting the videos. Your channel has the biggest impact on my golf game recently. I used to play 8 about 15 years ago as a junior. Got busy, put the game away. Recently back 6 months ago because its the safest thing out there. When I saw your driving badly I was like, this guy is a single handicapper, I should leave it out. Now I play more stress free, less time spent looking for golf balls and blind concerns. Yesterday, I miss hit my driver and was left 220 on a 370 hole. Too long for a hybrid with water. Caddie was confused when I chipped it to 125m, but I hit a pitching and parred it while everyone crashed!

Liking the stress free golf vids. On my last round I just kept telling myself, "stress free, stress free". Aimed my driver to the left whenever possible so I would be OK if it went straight and middle of fairway with my slight fade (instead of edge of the woods or bounce into the water). Also stayed away from those stinking 30 yard chips. Oh yeah, and "Didi level specific"! It was a wonderful stress free day.

Great round by T-Bone! If you ever get into swing instructions, I noticed T-Bone is a little disconnected in his backswing. Elbows are a little far apart.
@GolfSidekick5 жыл бұрын
The problem with swing instruction is that it doesnt matter - you ask 100 different people and you get 100 dfferent reasons why a swing is faulty. It could be any one of a million things and only trained swing coaches that can show immediate or if not, then very quick, results are to be listened to. I have no idea about the swing so I have no confidence to tell anyone about their swing. I highly recommend that anyone looking for swing changes don’t ask their friends or anyone other than a coach who has great results and who has helped someone the golfer personally know, and helped them quickly. Not the two year long swing rebuild shysters out there - they are to be avoided.

Sunday i played my first game since september, after watching your (awesome) vids i started to use 'the way of the playa' and shot my lowest score to date 100. after carding 2 eights and a seven on par fours, and a couple of bad decisions, it was easy to see where i could have saved 8 shots (+ no putting practice !). and instead of going for greens i laid up to a comfortable distance - those layup shots were the sweetest i have ever hit - there was no pressure on them ! Bring on the 90's ! ps. I forgot to plant feathers tho!

And you sir would be 100% correct. It is a tough layout and I havent ever broken 40 on the nine holes of The first video. I spent the intermission thumbing through the Strokes Gained gospel. Stripe your 3 irons to 3 feet, it says … aim downhill putts farther past the hole, it says. Stress! Then I watch T-Bone’s back nine. IDGAFLIKEABAUS, it says. No stress!

Your "hillbilly" accent is coming along playa! Great work. Practice does pay off. He was fighting your advice a bit more on this round I noticed. He isn't sold just yet. The main thing I noticed was inconsistency. He hit some very pure shots, but hit some real duds, too. I doubt it ia lack of practice, it has to be a mental disconnect somehow. Almost like he is trying too hard at times. That should dovetail in to your stress cycle I should think. As you say, if the putting is reliable, the short game is stress free and produces more positive results, which leads to letting irons happen rather than trying to hard to be perfect. Great job guys! Keep working.
@tonymiddlehurst84386 жыл бұрын
I really don't mean to sound harsh but I think he thinks he's better than he is. He hasn't grasped that what feels good isn't always what brings the best results!
@OurHouseChannel6 жыл бұрын
@@tonymiddlehurst8438 Thats possible, yes. But I wouldn't say thats exclusive to him. There are tons of us that are that way, even though we may not be aware of it. Subconsciously we stand over a tee shot needing 290 to be prime and we try to pull it off because 6 percent of our tee shots get close to that distance with wind behind us downhill. Or we play a shot that even Mickelson would be nervous about because that one time Roger saw us hit a 60 yard hook flop from behind a water buffalo over a sequoia, so we know we can do this.... Thats what Matt's strategy is all about. Recognizing that we should play our 8 out of 10 shots. Tshepo is just like us.
@tletsoalo6 жыл бұрын
Tony Middlehurst hahaha! I really don’t think I think I’m better than I am. The comment made me laugh. In any case, I wasn’t “fighting” Matt’s advice. I was voicing what was stress free for ME. And Matt and I had hung out and this was our third round together so we’d gotten to know each other better and was far more comfortable. I actually listened to him more here...hence the better score ;)

Hey Matt, what do you use to trace your shots with the red trails?
@K_V1_46 жыл бұрын
Hey Matt, I shot 99 for the first time last summer before I discovered the way of the playa (your vids) so I feel I can bring that to 95 next round. Only thing is I'm changing my swing trying to incorporate a Dustin Johnson wrist move at the top of the swing to minimize my slice. As a playa who's also going through swing changes, how do you maintain the same level of play while switching up your swing? I'd appreciate some advice from the amateur golf guru. Nice vid BTW!
@GolfSidekick6 жыл бұрын
Hello sir! First question that immediately popped into my head is why are you adding that move? Did a reputable pro or coach tell you or is it self-diagnosis? Next, with my swing changes, it is slow. The only way to do it I reckon is to work on it off the course to groove the feeling and then hit some balls after grooving it in the same range session...but without thinking about it - but record it all on film because what we "feel" is not the reality a lot of the time just like when you see a guy trying to melt every ball off the tee but he thinks he is swinging so smooth. Then introduce it on the course but be prepared to screw up the whole round all in the name of progress - you'l eventuallly start getting it right more often.. But just stick to your guns, and play with cheap golf balls so you don't bash expensive ones into the bush and water. In the beginning, you'll get two or three perfect, then as each round goes by, you'll get up to 50% of the shots, then eventually you'll haveit grooved. BUT FOCUS ON ONLY ONE THING AT A TIME otherwsie you'll cripple your swing and become one of those dudes who spends 20 seconds just standing paralysed over the ball before your shot full of 100 thoughts. Main thing is, don't implement big swing changes that are not verified personally for you by someone who knows exactly what they're talking about. It can be a coach online you contact personally, or can be your friend who is an expert but the person must be reputable. I really don't think it's wise to implement stuff from the internet through self-diagnosis especially as a high handicapper. Often it can be like playing pin the tail on the donkey.

@@GolfSidekick the local pro at my hometown course that I've played with first brought it up because my wrist was cupping too much; it's not so much that we're working to get a DJ wrist replica but moreso just a feel that the wrist is flatter more than cupped. We've played enough times such that I don't think he'd bring up the idea if he knew I wasn't capable of trying it. Thank you for the advice! I'll keep it in mind next time I hit the links
