I can't believe golf pros don't teach this way. Especially to people who have struggled forever and just want to get more enjoyment out of the game. I wish I was taught this when I was 30 years old I wouldn't have quit for the better part of 20 years.
@2k10clarky5 жыл бұрын
Exactly on point, all the slow-mo video, position / plane voodoo and launch monitor numbers are fine for the pros who practice 40+ hours a week but for people with limited time course management is going have far more impact. Then I think you can actually start to enjoy and 'play' golf, get to the point it's stress-free and everything feels easy then start to challenge yourself a little bit, as soon as the stress returns then back off a little bit back to stress-free mode. Improving all the time. This is how you actually learn golf.
@GolfSidekick5 жыл бұрын
When you say quit for 20 years, I take it you're playing again sir? If not, please do! More fun, more of the time, more guys on the course, more often. Good golf pros will show you how to manage a course. The conmen are overhauling swings for repeat business when a simple mental shift would change everything.

@@2k10clarky Love this comment. That whole slow mo breaking down the whole swing into segments and having dudes trying to get into 7 different positions when they stand on a tee box with a 200 yard carry, and looking to the machine for the voodoo readings really hurts me deep inside.

T bone could save a lot of strokes simply with some putting practice, and I'm sure after he sees this he'll agree, with his quality chipping he could have a lot of one putt holes (up and downs) but needs that confidence in putter. Hey Matt, after watching your 6+6+6 system for breaking 80, I made a 3+4+5+6 system for breaking 90. It is: up & down par x 3, GIR par x 4, one chip/pitch & two putts bogey x 5, and vacation (double bogeys) x 6. Total: 89. I printed this and clipped it to my scorecard, and checked after every hole. Just for fun yesterday, I decided to try some stress free golf. On a typical Par 4 I would hit 5-iron off the tee, then lay up to 80-90 yards with a 8-9 iron. A 54 degree wedge into the green often left me 15-25 feet for par, and a 85 percent chance of a two-putt bogey. Make a great approach and some of those bogeys become pars. Add 2 or 3 pars on the Par 3’s and 5s and the scorecard can easily go sub-90. Matt, you’ve got lots of fans here in western Canada. Please keep doing what you’re doing, guru!

I have been in Poland for the past ten months on an exchange program. I used to play golf all the time starting in April, but here, golf is almost nonexistent. The last time that I played was in September and that was in the Czech Republic, where I got my butt kicked by that golf course. I have always been so frustrated with my game because I can play decent, just a few bad holes will always screw me up for the rest of the round. My short game is the best part of my game and I can’t drive the ball. My irons are normally decent. My ego was always the problem, wanting to hit the ball a mile and make par every hole like my friends. Looking back I wasn’t understanding the process. I focused way too much on my score. I knew exactly what my score was when I sank that putt on the 18th green. But no more, I can do this I just have to focus and relax. Watching your videos, I am feeling confident that I can get my score down into the 90s within a few rounds. I’ve been itching to play for the past month. Tsepho can be a playa. The hybrid is pretty reliable and he can chip well. If he works on his thought processes and short putting 90 will be easy!

My target 2024. Breaking 90. Currently i hit my course par of 95 strokes. Love these vids from the Golf Messiah. Would some more of Golf Sidekick helping someone break their par. If every course had a Golf Sidekick caddy for Playa's, pace of play on the course would be pretty fast.

Missed you, Sidekick. Great video. That young man is fortunate that tuning one aspect of his game will have him shooting 90 or lower. Clean putting and he'll have it made in the shade.
@GolfSidekick5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are right. He also needs to switch off the brain a little bit because he is quite analytical and gets in his own head. But he is on the way there
@joshydep845 жыл бұрын
I myself do the same. One bad shot turns me into a mad scientist trying to work out math and physics on how to not be terrible. Leading to more bad shots. But the journey is always fun.

Agreed. Seeing how many short putts I should have made was really eye opening. Short game short game short game!!!!!! Less thinking means more enjoyment 👊🏾

I've been so close multiple times. What's helped me is a slow smooth non aggressive driver swing. Always aim for the safest part of the green and always using my 8 iron green side, hitting it with a putter stroke. This season just started and I'm getting it done

In high school I played on the junior varsity team. Our practice course was a 9 hole executive course. Longest hole 220 yards, so I never played woods. I could play consistent bogey golf on this course. My best 9 holes was 2 over. Anyway, so we played a tournament on a big course and I broke out the driver...and shot a 60 (for 9). They made me sit in the back of the station wagon, with the clubs, on the ride home

Great video as always Matt, I'm a big fan of T-bone's spin move after his first putt on 4th, gonna try that some time. Keep these awesome videos coming, hope there's a Golf Sidekick Bangkok/Thailand meetup happening in 2019!

Yes sir, with you and your wife when I am back in Thailand in February. I am on a road trip with my dad up to CHiang Mai so if you're here up north any time in the next 7 days we can play here. Then I am all over until the 10th of Feb when I will be in THailand again, then we jam.

Another great video Matt. Full of useful information, I always feel inspired after watching your tips. I have broken a hundred a couple of times but my problem is I can’t hit any club very far, so I often take 4 shots to get on the green on a 380 yarder! I know I shouldn’t but it’s got a steep side slope (ball above my feet) it should be driver 170, 6 iron 110, 7 iron 100 but I always come up short. I’ve only started playing last April and played weekly since September. I’m looking forward to summer when I can get my handicap down. Steve, UK
@GolfSidekick5 жыл бұрын
You only started in April? Wow, man, take it easy on yourself brother. Give yourself this whole year to break 90 and no pressure on yourself otherwise you'll become frustrated. Just keep working on that tee club and you will be hitting it well enough to trust it on many shots. Golf is a journey and a process that never ends. Enjoy it baby!

If dude was a little more balanced his slice would be gone. His good shots his backswing is a little slower and his swing is more balanced and smoother, and every shot he slices he gets a little too much weight toward on his toes and about falls over in his finish and also gets a little quick in the tempo.

My dad has never shot in the 80s but shot a 78 once. I saw it. Crazy shit. I’m not looking for low round but rather more consistency. I’ve found with course management I can shoot in the low 90s without playing much, and about the same with more practice with little course management. Excited to combine the two. Lowest 18 is 83 and lowest 9 is 37. Looks like this guy just needs more short game. That’s how I went from 100s to low 90s quickly. His long game is better than mine was
