Just started Golf 4 months ago and went to the course the first time this weekend. Your videos are amazing for all beginners, I can relate to your lessons and mistakes. Thank You and good luck in the future. By the way, the videos are better when you voice over (I've watched at least a dozen of them), and your editing skills are great - thank you for the patience. Gonna buy some merch next year to help ;)

:-))) I changed to lefty about 10 years ago after getting disillusioned playing right poorly, hitting 100-110 (i switch hit in Baseball for years so not a huge step to take it to the golf course) So went to Driver-7iron lefty, 8-putter righty and playing far, far better 90-100 And now fully righty and consistently 84-90 and that's only playing every third week or so Trying lefty really clears your head of all those swing thoughts co you just play more 'see ball, hit ball'.

Nice lefty video playa. If you watch any of my videos you will notice I putt by looking at the hole too. It works wonders all I worry about over the ball is how much speed I need. Improved my putting tremendously, now if I miss it’s a bad read, 9-10 I always hit my spot I was aiming at. Keep up the good work dude👍🏻⛳️

great video. Mad me think, I hit the ball further than you LHed and probably putt just as well or better... but I score just marginally better. I lose too many shots to bunkers, water hazards (they psyche me out) and the occasional duff. You did none of that. You showed me that if I play just a bit better mentally... I could easily drop 5 or 6 strokes. Thanks, I will take that to heart next time out.
@GolfSidekick5 жыл бұрын
Marshall Grossack Look at your landing area where you will be 100% safe and find a way to completely eliminate the chance of hitting in a hazard. Then ignore the hell out of the negative result. I found the best way to avoid the duff into a mental hazard is to lookat the positive outcome and just finish the swing and realllyyyyfocus on swinging back to what feels like 50% so i dont try hit it too hard

Have you tried right hand low when putting lefty? I'm a righty but I have dabbled with the left hand putter and it feels very natural.
@GolfSidekick5 жыл бұрын
Not yet, will give it a go later today see how it feels. I think my lag putting left handed is good as it is, maybe swapping hands will be good for shorter putts
@markbennett73925 жыл бұрын
Really enjoying this, kinda makes me fancy giving it a go. Has it had a positive effect on your normal right hand game at all?
@GolfSidekick5 жыл бұрын
Yes 1) green reading and pace of lag putts. I dunno why but I am jamming a lot more inside 10 feet and almost making waaaay more lag putts not just lagging it to 3 feet. Getting the pace of putts from 30 40 50 60 feet is much improved. 2) makes me accept bogey on some holes is a good score 3) now trying to shorten backswing right handed for more rhythm. 4) my swing is so ‘on plane’ left handed so Now I am trying to reimplement my basics into my right hand swing for more rhythm and less injury. Im constantly sore from my right handed swing which is not in sync currently.

Limiting the number of clubs you have and limiting your swing to feeling like they are 50% are great parameters to start. You are progressing so fast, its impressive. I would say this though; Maybe try to use the bump and run more around the greens if possible, as lofted pitch shots that carry further will increase the difficulty of the shot and the margin of error. Gary Player himself would tell you that. Well done Matt!
@GolfSidekick5 жыл бұрын

@@GolfSidekick Thats a good point. Ultimately, you have to ask yourself what your long term goal is. For now, its breaking 100, then 90, etc. But if you're long term goal is to be better than you are right handed, discipline yourself to choose the correct path, rather than the fastest way to 80. I hope this doesn't ruin your right handed game, LOL. I have my own challenge. I want to get a set of hickory shaft clubs and play with them. With all the new technology, expectations are so high. With 100 year old clubs, imagine how low your expectations would be. Buddhist philosophy involves the key to happiness being zero expectations. And I love the idea of replacing gear with skill.
@GolfSidekick5 жыл бұрын
I have long since removed expectations and life is a very fun experience now, I agree on that point. I would love to try hickory shafts etc - I think skill can also be interchanged with imagination. Imagination is a skill that gets overlooked. We aren't born with an imagination - it comes form practice of the basics to the point where we can experiment. I think the exprimentation will lead to imagination and the confidence to try new things which will give off the impression of supreme skill. But in actual fact it was big balls of steel and practice. I think the left handed game is affecting me badly on the right but not because of the swing - it's more because I notice how beautiful the swing looks left handed and I see the flaws in my right handed game. I am actually going for a lesson tomorrow and will have two more after that to get my swing better because at the moment, it's hurting me and injuring my posterior chain. I am tired of going to the acupuncturist so will be looking to improve my fundamentals to lead to less injurious golf and more fun. The long term goal is just to break 100 or 90 and then I will be done. I will have proved my systems of conservative golf work. I will have proved you don't need more than 6 or so clubs to break 90 and that golf is easy and fun.

@@GolfSidekick Agree on all counts. Amazing to me that someone a half a world away, from a completely different culture, can share a brain with a "toothless, inbred, hillbilly". Golf is a great teacher. I have always said that the reason a lot of people get so obsessive with golf is a subconcious parallel that equates playing well with living well. If you have your shit together in golf, it means you have your shit together in life. Whether or not that is a true statement, people sense that is true, but they just aren't aware of it. By the way, most people won't know this, but your videos are well composed, well edited, and you have a high skill level in making them. Unless someone has tried filming and editing themselves, they won't truly appreciate what all you accomplish in 10 minutes of film. When you get some hickory clubs, you need to come to North Carolina and film a round. Since you know, you "love travel". LOL. Keep them coming. Thanks for helping my game.

@GolfSidekick5 жыл бұрын
It's made my all round putting especially lag putting better. Other than that, I don't see much help in the future from left handed golf besides a more relaxed outlook on the game. It might make my hands more aware of the position of the clubhead and help me correct bad swings? But I don't think too much about it for now. I just want to prove to all the guys trying to break 100 or 90 that it can be done, we just need to get out of our own way and do the basics right

I can only point you in the direction of Snake Diet by Cole Robinson I fast for 48 to 72 hours at a time, not as often as before, maybe once every two weeks. I try eat in a tight eating window every day. But I have been in South Africa with all my home comforts and I have gone wild eating everything in sight. I'm jumping back on the wagon and going into one meal a day carnivore diet with an extended 48 hours fast twice a month.

@@GolfSidekick Cheers. Hadn't heard of that one. I fast regularly , but water only, no additives. 3 days, 7 days and I have done 8 days. The extreme long days was because of sickness. Totally gone. It's amazing what the human mind can achieve when you are put in the corner. The secret to eating after is to stay away from all foods that are processed or have had chemicals sprayed on them. Basically sourcing organic food. Anyhow, thanks, play well. PS: may I add, that one so called "secret" to total health is to take vitamin C everyday. Source the pure stuff, not that cheap shit. It will revitalise your bodies cells, therefore no sickness. The pharmaceutical companies know this and hate it being spread. Cheers.

Elvis Presley Worked in big pharma before. Very anti big pharma now. I havent been sick since I started fasting. The salt and potassium water with baking soda or a dry fast stops any colds and flu in their tracks. Need to detox from the amount of junk i have been eating since back in SA. Will use lemon juice and acv to flush myself out of toxins from the crap.

I don’t understand your new putting strategy. For all of your other shots, you talk about being loose and not thinking swing mechanics, but now when you putt, it looks like you are vexed by mechanics thoughts (even it it’s just taking eyes away from the shot, which still seems mechanical). What happened to the “I will make this” thought process and just go up and hit it?
