Instructions for how to break a fast for women: AVOID 1.) Garlic - no prebiotic fibers since it redirects water that's needed after a fast and during fasting, it elevates bad bacteria - ruins gut bacteria; ok when not fasting 2.) Onions- same above 3.) Inulin - same above 4.) artichokes - same above 5.) asparagus - same above 6.) no dairy/why protein - gives too much acid/ inflammatory/ may give ulcers 7.) NEVER combine fats and carbs 8.) NO GLUTEN EAT 1.) lots of salt, cinnamon to warm water (2 hours before breaking fast) - to moderate bloating and insulin 2.) bone broth when you break a fast 3.) lean protein - mostly seafood (shellfish preferred, white fish like: white cod; halibut; haddock; cleaned Chilean seabass preferred); 3oz as a serving size 4.) lean protein shake from PEA protein NOT whey; you need the zinc for the thyroid 5.) oil-free seaweed snacks that only has salt; no other flavoring

Karen Honey shellfish is amazing if you can! So yes on shrimp. Pair it with bone broth, rice cakes and make sure to get iron through a supplement or see weed if you can. I think the little snack packs are great. 4-5 oz of grass fed lean/ pea protein for 100-150 lbs. if you weigh more do a few oz more, of you weigh less do a few oz less. Pink salt also to season. Woman lack zinc and iron . Stay away from combining fats and carbs and dairy

I dropped everything I was doing to watch this video! At 56 years old, have been struggling with back and forth gain/loss for a year - I was doing what my husband was doing - it was great for a while - I lost about 30 lb intermittent fasting and keto - he kept losing - I started gaining. I was frustrated and hopeless after I started losing again, and came to a standstill. I intermittent fast but had a hard time eating when I was supposed to - but now to know that I was eating the wrong things - I always craved a big salad with broccoli, brussel sprouts etc - with olive oil. I will use my plant based protein shake to break a fast from now on! I have been doing the salt for a while, we use Redmond Salt, you should check it out - it will help with some of the Iodine issue we have! Thank you so much for putting this video out there!

Hey, thanks.During fasts I use 1/8 tsp of Maine kelp with real salt and a few drops of lime juice, right out of the palm of my hand.120% rda of iodine, 1 calorie, .1 carbs, no harm done. Makes me feel satisfied, as if I've eaten. Take it when I have my ACV with matcha and minerals (magnesium, potassium and generous amount salt). I never skip it! Lost 44 lbs since April with no plateau and I'm 3 years into menopause, with no symptoms of hormone imbalance. I only mention Maine Coast because apparently because of the deep, cold waters it's got a lot more iodine than most kelps from the Atlantic.

I have so many questions! 1- Should I avoid cinnamon during my fast so cortisol levels stay elevated? 2 - Is it ok to do 16/8 daily and add a 22-24 a couple days a week? 3 - If I stop my eating window at 6pm daily and I break a 22hr fast at 4pm, can I still get the nutrients I need? Or should I push my eating window out an hour so I can get my important veggies in after the 2hr window? 4 - Are the “carb smart” high fiber (4net carb) flour tortillas ever ok on Keto? And if so, you said ZERO gluten on fasting days. Does that include 16/8 days? 5 - Are the Kirkland Organic Roasted Seaweed snacks acceptable for the iodine source on fasting days? They have sunflower & sesame oil but only 1.5g of fat per serving. 6 - No onion/garlic in the 2 hours after breaking a fast. But what if onion is listed as an ingredient in the bone broth? For example, Kirkland Organic Chicken bone broth.

Thanks for the important info. It will come in handy 1/2/20. I usually begin the break process of the 20 hr fast an hour before eating with a cup of black coffee sprinkled w/cinnamon & a couple grinds of pink Himalayan salt. My food is usually scallops or albacore white tuna. On occasion I have also done a can of mustard sardines to break a fast. A few hrs later a huge salad w/ protein & roasted veggies. When I’m done with that I enjoy a dark chocolate fat bomb. This is so satisfying.

I’m 62 (63 in Sept) and have been keto for 7 years. Mostly doing IF 18/6 or 16/8. With carb break days every 3 weeks or so. I went through a relationship breakup 2 years ago and lost the plot, gave up didn’t care anymore. Put on 10 kilos (on my small frame of 55kilos wringing wet, that makes me look like an elephant when naked 😱) Lost it over the last 4 months by going 20/4 for the first time eating between either 3pm-6pm or 4pm-7pm and breaking my fast with lean protein only. Later I’ll include animal fat with my meal if I feel like it. I love cream in my coffee but restrict that to my first coffee of the day otherwise black. I also voluntarily went gluten free a few years ago because it just felt right for me. Listening to your body is really important. Plus I was diagnosed with mid to high range osteopenia and within 14 months have reversed my T-scores to normal whilst maintaining nutrition levels AND achieving desired weight loss. (66 kilos down to 55 kilos) I do FIIT twice a week and weight train 30 mins twice a week, & walk for only 30 mins a day. Easy peasy! No arthritic pain, no post menopausal anything. Healthy as. Life is good. 🥰🥳🙏

The natural collagen in bone broth might be difficult for some ppl to digest already, I would avoid adding more collagen. What I like to do is add hydrolyzed collagen peptides which are broken down and easier to digest (also soluble in cold liquids). Get the Great Lakes brand of peptides, I think they are the most cost effective while still being grassfed.

That's the thing; we watch & try to follow along but makes sense that what works for a 35 or 40 year old may not be same for a 50 or 60 year old. Then at 67 with other health conditions it's too hard on my body. I do add salt to my water now as was missing minerals. Even with 24 hr fast I need electrolytes. Yes, not so obsessed with eating since keto. I only had 1 meal yesterday then today I was breaking my fast with eggs and only took 2 bites. I fast 24 hours at least every week though each day is 16-20 hours. On longer fasts only once a month as I personally need electrolyte replacement. But drink water with a bit Himalayan salt. For a few years I've done water fast occasionally as felt my body just needed to get rid of toxins. Probably should've listened to my body a long time ago to change my eating. I think keto is clean eating removing processed foods and sugars as well as grains etc. I can say the inflammation in my joints has gone down. I did fast 48hrs b4 the 30 day challenge on Sept 8 but was weak and learned I need electrolytes with water and until healthier stick to max 36 hr fast for me. Wish you well.

@@crit8262 , If you would like to learn all you can about Intermittent Fasting, you can buy the book called, The Complete Guide to Fasting by Dr Jason Fung MD with Jimmy Moore. It teaches you how to do Intermittent Fasting, Alternative Day Fasting and Extended Fasting. They also have a Support Group Page on Facebook called, The Obesity Code Network: Fasting Support with Megan Ramos and Dr. Jason Fung. A lot of great stories of success are also shared on that Page.

Hi Thomas. I was wondering if you could help me with two questions: I did a 36 hour fast and broke it with half an egg and a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil (based on another youtuber, Dr Berg’s videos one can/should break fast with an protein and some fats) This is before I saw your video on lean meats/ seafood only. 30 min later I ate a bite of chicken and will finish the rest of your recommended portion later. 1.) Does breaking fast with protein and a small amount of fats cause weight gain? I want to know if consuming that half an egg and the olive oil will have a tremendous effect on whether my body will store these fats as fat in my body? (I do wish I saw your channel earlier. ) I will go through your channel and see if I can find information on this, but I’m quite worried that I’ve nullified the benefits of the autophagy I’ve gone through and probably even worse, created more fat for me to burn off. I will take this as a learning experience nonetheless. Also, I can’t eat fish or seafood. I wish I could and I’ve tried, but it makes me SO nauseous even just smelling it). I know this is a big problem , especially because I need omega 3. The cod liver/salmon capsules also don’t work. I’ve honestly tried different brands. I’m sorry if I’m too graphic, but when I bring up wind and I smell the fishiness it really makes me want to vomit leads to being queasy for quite a while. 2.) Thus, I want to know if Chia seeds and flaxseed are good enough as sources of omega 3, seeing that I really can’t eat seafood? Thank you for your channel. 🌊

So glad to have come across this amazing channel. I've never had a problem with weight until being prescribed meds for depression, which is not depression, but the effects a concussion. So, finding your channel has given me the confidence that I can help heal myself. My question is about lectins, is this an issue with peas? What are your thoughts on lectins? Thanks!

I’m hyperthyroid (female). Seems like I would take a totally different approach to breaking my fast. I see a lot of info regarding fasting when someone is hypothyroid, but never anything when hyper. I just finished my first prolonged fast for 51 hrs and would love any help you could give on breaking it properly. Thank you for your videos. They are so informative and I love the expensive words. :)

Great video. How about a person that do OMAD every single day. I usually eat every 23 to 24 hours. What is your recomendation to break the fast?
@QuadraAce4 жыл бұрын
Doing OMAD on and off for 3yrs. Man eat anything as long as it's healthy. It doesn't really matter when you fast 24hrs each day because you need all the nutrients to bridge you to the next meal. Fats+carbs - it's ok because you ll burn it off anyways in 24 hrs. The small details depend on if you're trying to gain, lose weight. How active you are, diseases etc. If you don't have an active life and trying to lose weight, keep you carbs low - eat vegetables, salads + quality protein and quality fats. You can have a cheat meal here and there and eat some form of potatoes, pasta or rice but keep bread intake low, avoid at all cost anything higher than a 60-70 GI(glycemic index look it up) like chocolate, deserts etc. You ll thank me when you reach 100 disease free.

tksm77 I’m not an expert. I don’t think it’s wrong. Maybe adding the Ghee could be adding too many calories and not getting the weight loss if that’s what you’re looking for. At the end of the day it is calories in vs calories out. Try to find a balance. Thanks!💪🏻

Shana That’s what I’ve come to understand. No onion, leek , garlic or anything from the Allium family. I’m seriously thinking of making some myself adding Star anise or cinnamon, bay leaf, maybe carrot or bell pepper, chilli flakes and the all important apple cider vinegar.

Let me know if I understand: Before breaking the fast, a cinnamon tea w some salt is recommended. I guess if I like coffee, I will take my first cup later and after 1-2 hrs my first meal. That can be a vegan protein shake or lean protein. Right?

I am on day 8 of a hard core fast. Starting body weight 318lbs, this morning, 288lbs. Straight water only fast is how it started, then I added a pinch of pink salt one day only. I have coconut milk cream and bone broth for breaking the fast but, I like the shell fish (king crab) idea better. I still have almost 30 days to go to reach my goal which is, 200lbs or a 32" waist. I'm buying the cinnamon today so I have it on hand when the time comes. Also saving this video so I can watch it again before I break the fast. Thank you very much for what you do, it helps all of us. If you have any advice for this long running water fast, please let me know. Thank you .

Thank you Thomas, it is a very informative video. However,I do have a few doubts to clarify:-1) Is egg consider lean protein for food breaking a fast ? 2)You have mentioned that do not mix carbs and fats together. Do you mean for food breaking a fast or even after 2 hours of breaking the fast , still can’t mix carbs and fats ? 3) Can i take Shellfish as food for breaking a fast or it is best to be taken after 2 hour breaking a fast ?
