Thank you so much for this video! I'm currently a college student and hope to become an animator one day. These tips provided me with valuable insight in what I need to do when I am ready for my career.

Thanks a million York! And yes that's how I keep finding out about great talent. I think slowly but surely gone are going to be the days where you have to submit your work and wait for an answer from a recruiter and instead it's becoming more common to be headhunted for yours skills if you share you work on Social Media.

For what it's worth, I've been seeing job postings for a lot more 3D professors & tutors in the Dallas Tx area. Crazy to think with such high demand the education system is trying to adjust to meet that.

That’s great to hear and absolutely and yet another avenue of work for us that have been in the industry for a while. There’s nothing better than sharing the knowledge with students looking to get in the industry.

Great video Harvey, I really enjoyed it! I'm currently an animation student nearing the end of my studies, and I was wondering if you think I should make a demo reel tailored for feature films/TV shows or game animation. I enjoy both, but I wanted to know which path is easier to find a job in, especially as a junior animator in Europe, given the current state of the industry. Thanks for any advice!
@harveynewman2 ай бұрын
Hey Blip, thanks for watching. And unfortunately there's no easy path they are both difficult....so it is really just a matter of what industry are you most passionate about and then pick that and stick to it, until you find that job to get your career started.

This was helpful. Thank you. I’m new to the gaming industry, I’m learning to become a 3D artist. I know how to model basics in Maya, and Zbrush, and I’m am learning Unreal and texture with substance painter. I will try your tips.

Glad it proved useful and wishing the best in your path as a 3D artist. I’ve made quite a few videos with tips and tricks for Maya feel free to peruse those to see if they might help you.

Thank you for sharing your video! May I ask you: how often did you need to relocate for the next project? Did you always managed to get the next project after your contract ended?
@harveynewman2 ай бұрын
I worked mostly full time for a long time, but probably because I worked mostly in Europe. Currently yes before a contract ends I normally start looking for a new few gigs to make sure the work can keep going uninterrupted. I hope that helps.

Hi, This is a loaded question. How much I need to learn Unreal? Good enough to test the imported animations? Animate using only the Unreal tools? Enough to implement the character into the final project using blueprints? Thanks!
@harveynewman2 ай бұрын
It depends on what you’d want to become. If you want to become an animator then having basic knowledge and knowing how to import animations and test them should be enough. But if you’d like to become a tech animator or perhaps you enjoy the more technical side of things learning basic blueprint setup and simple things like blend-spaces and sequencer it will go a long way to impress potential employers.

sir i am a student currently studying in an institute its 2 years course our first year is about to end just four months left we will start working on our demo reel for 4 months should i learn ai during that or not should
@harveynewman2 ай бұрын
Hi Lisa, thanks for the question...and I think there's no harm in keeping in touch with the latest in AI as you work on your course. As mentioned in the video , just like any other technology is wise to keep learning more and staying in touch with the latest tech so you're not left behind. Just make sure that you focus most of your time in your major as that's what you'll be ultimately doing professionally. I hope that helps.
