Canna, since I found your channel in late December, we have paid off 1/3 of our debt! We're right on track to be debt free by the end of the year! I am so thankful for your videos. We've been getting a little burnt out the past few weeks. All the sacrifices we've been making to pay down that debt is getting a little frustrating, but every Monday when I wake up (I live in the US) and see your videos, they give me just the boost I need to keep going. You're a blessing!

Dear Canna an amazing video. I grew up in poverty and always felt limited, being bullied by more fortunate children. It took a while for me to break off my mindset on how I thought about money. Now I see it as a tool and figured out a minimalistic life which I am comfortable with. Nowadays I have a surplus and am using that by saving up to built a house. Your videos have also helped me towards my journey :) Thank You

Okay Cana I took your advice and re-watched this video. My daughter love of my life ran away 5 weeks ago. She is 14. She is safe but she does have mental illness due to her father abandoning us when she was 6, and now at 14 she is very angry. So all these years raising her I could only work while she was in school. I gave her all the love from my heart... Plus all her needs and put myself last. She is now in a facility where I'm hoping she will get the help that no matter how hard I tried as a 55 year old single mother, I could not give her. I am now in counseling for ME. I am small as you can see, I have not left this house for myself in 2 years. That is why I am stuck. Now I need to work on getting Susan back so I can accomplish my financial goals. Please pray for us. Thank you for being such a wonderful person and showing that you care. Always writing back to me. I heard of a job on line looked into it and will start soon. It is not much but will help me put away at least 50 a month in a savings for now. Then once I have my 1k emergency fund I will start paying off my small debt. I do not have a large amount of debt but having non at all will give me piece of mind. After that is done my plan is to pay off my home. I can not live with the stress anymore, with my poor girl going through this....... I can have a heart attack. So I am taking it one hour at a time, one day at a time, and praying my mental plan I will be able to follow. Thank you darling for caring. XOXOXOX..... Susan

This mental poverty thing is really, really true. My bro used to work in some minimum wage jobs, and the way some of these folks handled money is amazing. They blew money they did not have on useless shit, and he said their attitude towards money was radically different then how people in our family handled money. I'm glad my parents (especially my Dad) taught how to handle money properly.

+Lady Catfish I have a friend who owns a business, and some of the people that work for them literally ask for their checks early, because they blow the money over the weekends. That would be such a sad and meaningless existence.

You make my day lady. I completely related to the sofa story! I purchased an antique sofa with the thought of having it reupholstered. Needless to say, the cost to cover it was $2,000 and that did not include the fabric. The sofa is very small as well. I love the topic, so informative. It's never too late to make a positive change.

Love your message here. Many years ago.. like 50!... I read a small book called Tally's Corner. It dealt with how one's Time Line ... how long one can WAIT for gratification of a desire.. is. Those with a short time line, who need instant gratification, end up in the CYCLE of poverty. It became clear to me... at a very early age, that poverty is not so much a lack of money but a mental attitude about money. PS. I bought my first house at the age of 20. I started saving at the age of 15. Focus, focus, focus! ; )

I love your videos and so glad I found you! I've been struggling with spending my "sink fund" money.. Even thought I have set it aside for these purposes I find it difficulty to part with the money on non-necessities (clothing, car maintenance, travel) .. Fear of not having enough after I spend it... I thought about setting thresholds but I don't know if that solves the fear.. Do you have any advice?
@SugarMamma
@SugarMamma 8 жыл бұрын
+Toni Vincent I believe that at times, fear can repel money. So many things in life are about balance, and as long as you still have some savings and other investments behind you, spending some money on yourself is a nice caring thing to do for your self worth…so don’t be too hard on yourself and maybe give yourself rewards for achieving certain financial goals. xCC

Hi Canna. My partner and I share a credit card to take advantage of Frequent Flyer points by paying for day to day items on it and then paying it off straight away. HI! I love and appreciate your videos. I am in the process of saving for a life account. I have a small bit of money already in my life account, but would like to know how much is a good amount to have? Also, I tend to get a plan together to pay off credit card debt, start making progress, AND THEN see something amazing to buy and the plan goes in the DITCH! Any tips on how I can stop allowing that to happen? Thanks! Brandi
@SugarMamma
@SugarMamma 8 жыл бұрын
+Brandi N Company Hi Brandi, that's wonderful that you are saving for a life account. How much you require in your life account all depends on your financial situation and what would make you feel comfortable and less stressed if an unexpected financial emergency were to arise. There are so many aspects to factor in for example your living situation, do you have children or planning to, are you in a relationship and so on. In terms of credit card debt, have you looked through my video library? there are quite a few videos on tips of how to control your expenses for example How to Use a Credit Card Safely kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5KloWOmfa16bck... The fact that you have recognised what you are doing wrong is the first step, now you need to implement strategies to control those spending habits. Firstly I would do a budget and any left over savings should go to paying of your credit card debt immediately... I wouldn't allow myself to buy something if I still have debt because the viscous cycle will never go away and could possibly become worse. I hope this helps, if you need anymore information please let me know. xCC

I seem to remember that in one of your videos, you had mentioned you are a minimalist. To be honest, you are not really a minimalist... You have a *lot* of stuff, it seems. Lots of handbags, a bunch of paintings, etc.. No offense meant, but just pointing it out..
@SugarMamma
@SugarMamma 8 жыл бұрын
+Lady Catfish No offence taken... I actually don't consider myself having things in my life that I do not value, enjoy or appreciate. I own what I need... I do take a minimalist approach to my wardrobe including handbags and shoes, I don't have many of these items at all! I give away or sell what I don't use and the items left in my cupboard are what I use on a daily basis for example I own one work handbag that I use 5-6 days a week, 2 evening bags and 2 casual bags. Perhaps this may seem excessive to some I don't know but I use them all and all the time otherwise they wouldn't last long in my cupboard. As for my paintings, I wasn't aware that owning wall art meant that you aren't a minimalist... I really cherish my paintings and they serve the purpose of making me happy because some of them in particular hold a lot of meaning in my life and this is why they are specially placed in my home so I can see them everyday. xCC
@ladycatfish2896
@ladycatfish2896 8 жыл бұрын
Sugar Mamma I see.. Well, I guess if you use the stuff, then ok. I feel 5 bags is excessive, but hey, that's just me! Your paintings make you that happy, huh.. Cool. I don't really appreciate art that much. I like collecting gold and silver coins, and looking at them from time to time. So pretty. And history too! Different tastes, I guess :-)
