All tips make a perfect sense to me ! 4 years ago I have tried to wakeup early around 5 am and be at the gym next to my work around 6 am finish at 7:30am have a shower and blowdry my hair and be at my desk at work by 8:30 am that was towards a goal that I set to my self and I didi it. It felt so good i still can remember how energetic i was during the day Keep the videos coming love them Wish you all the best Canna! Xx

Thanks for sharing! I have been reading "The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life (Before 8AM)" and it has motivated me to start waking up earlier. It's a great book, I highly recommend it for those who are trying to motivate themselves to wake up earlier. Today I was out of bed by 6:00 am and went for a 3 mile run all before my kids woke up. It was so wonderful and like you said you get so much more done in the mornings!

I really love this video :) I wake up at 4am everyday having slept by 10 and I love it. By the time most people have woken up I've been to the gym pre made lunch done some reading and managed to get most house work done. I think the best part though, is in summer when you get to watch the sunrise :)

I find getting up early easy in the summer, however I find it absolutely impossible in the winter, I just feel tired all day everyday (I live in the UK it's dark till 8am right now, later if it's gloomy which it always is) so I've just recently bought an SAD lamp which imitates daylight. I can sit by it and get some early morning work done whilst feeling more awake!

Yes! I'm a mom to two girls (2 years and 1 yr) and I love/need to be up before them. I get me time, a workout, HOT coffee and set my mind for the day. I don't even miss the sleep but I do miss the productivity if I skip it. I aim for 5:30 am. TIP: my husband won't let himself workout at any other time than the morning so if he sleeps in he won't get a workout. He LOVES exercise so this external motivation/consequence helps keep him up early.

Great topic - I find that the mornings are my most productive times, too. Sleeping with the curtains slightly open is a great suggestion. I also put my alarm on the other side of the room, so I have to get up to turn it off. In the end, my most powerful suggestion is having a clear vision of WHY I'm waking up so early... thanks for posting!

I enjoyed your video. Firstly, this is NOT for everyone. Some people, like myself are nocturnal and have been that way all their lives. Secondly, not everyone in the world works days and has the luxury of waking up at the UnGodly hour of 5:00 am . Lots of us are bartenders, waitress's, DJ's band members, entertainers or anyone that works 2nd or 3rd shift jobs, like nurses, Doctors, CNA's etc. I've tried getting up early even when I have a night where I have the opportunity to go to bed early., MY clock still wakes up at my bartending time or 8:30-9:00 This is normal if you go bed at 2:00. So that is 6.5 hours of sleep and I feel great. If I force myself to go to bed early , say 10:00Pm and set the alarm for 6:00, thats 8 hours of sleep, but I feel like CRAP all day! I know you mean well, but you have no idea how the "other" people live. Plus you lose out on a lot of things, like Late nite TV, movies, a date with someone nice, going dancing till 1:00 etc I get what you mean but it does work or NEVER WILL work for me! SORRY! PS I also found, my quiet and peaceful time is midnight to 3 am. I have lots of energy and the phones are not ringing. I can go do recording in the basement or something ... Ok finished !! Id love some input on this from OTHER people that DON'T work 7-3 jobs. thanks and good luck, peace and love .

Hi Canna, I get up at 6:20 in the morning, get prepare before my kids wake up but I feel I have not enough time for myself, I did try to get up 15 mn earlier last week to meditate and make visualisation exercices, I really enjoyed it....but it lasted only a couple of days.....I do not get enough sleep because I love to "relax" watching internet in the evening, I have the feeling to spend way to much time there....I go to bed around 11:30, sometime 12:00 and it is hard to get up in the morning. I will follow your tips, I need to sleep more and to enjoy the morning time. I am excited to start today. I will let you know what it will change for me. Thanks have a great day.

+Valérie L'encre rose It does get easier over time, it is amazing how quickly your body will adapt. Perhaps you could try going to bed 15 minutes earlier each night as well... I find the internet is the worst thing to be on in the evening because time creeps away and before you know it, its after midnight and you're still wide awake. xCC

I absolutely love my 9 - 5 schedule (bed by 9-ish and up at 5). The best part of the day is given to caring for myself when I am rested and energised. I don't fall immediately asleep at 9 - however all my electronic devises get turned off and I may read a paper book or magazine for a few minutes with a relaxing meditation CD playing very quietly. A bedside lamp with a dimmer switch provides a calm and serene ambiance.

Hello! I agree about how beneficial this is, and it really does depend on habit. I tend to be more awake in the evenings naturally, if I do not "reign myself in" but when I do wake up early it totally changes my outlook on the day and life. At one point I was up every day at 5 AM, just like you and it was one of the best moments, I managed finally to have a steady meditation practice, to practice learning a new language and take some time reading...and it does have a domino effect on how active one is during the rest of the day thanks for sharing and ciao from Italy :-)

I've been getting up at 5:30 every morning this week and I've been loving it! I've been doing a yoga session with online tutorials from thrivingplantbased.com for around an hour before school (I'm 16) and I've found that I've become so much more positive and clear-minded throughout the day. It's been really nice to get my workout in early in the morning so that I don't have to worry about it for the rest of the day. I feel like I have so much more time to relax and it feels so freeing! I'm hoping I can keep up my routine for at least untill school gets out in the summer :)

I personally love the morning. The gentle sun, the silence, the amount of things you can get done before 10 am, I love it all. But it's difficult sometimes being a musician, we kind of have to work until the late hours of the nights. What helps me get back to being an early bird is having something to do really early for at least one or two full weeks. Something I have to do, something out side of my house and something that doesn't depend only on me. Last time it happened I was going to bed at 9 am and sleeping through 3 pm because of work, and I enrolled on a 11 day course, the classes started at 7 am sharp every day, if I was late I would loose the day. It was already paid for, I had to go and it was something I really wanted to do, plus I hate being late. First day was horrible. Second I nearly fainted in the middle of the afternoon. Third day my body started to adjust and by the 7th day I was waking up 15 minutes before the alarm went off. It can be really challenging, but our bodies adjust. It's amazing.

+Megan Noggins My pleasure Megan, As we get older, we tend to get slightly less sleep, and the quality of that sleep is poorer, with more awakenings throughout the night. Studies have shown that the more disrupted sleep the worse our memory. This is also a good reason why I retrained my body to wake up at 5am every morning... I am so much more alert and on the ball than if I woke up at 7am. The key is to get a good 8 hours uninterrupted self which is nearly impossible with children. xCC

My two and a half year old wouldn’t ever come with me for a run, he would fight the whole time, and if he knows I’m in the living room would just be dragging on my arm the entire time. How do you get it done?

Laura Nadel my gym has a kids club and Rocco loves it. But I also go to the gym at lunchtime in my work break. But when Rocco was a baby I used to go yoga with him and he was a weight which I would use in the exercise routine. You can find fun workouts online to work with kids...xCC

Thanks for the details! I will have to look into local gyms that might have playgroups included. The kids always love the opportunity to play with one another

Can't remember if you've mentioned in previous video - but do you shower in the am or pm? I'm curious to give this whole "get up early" thing a try, but wondering which end of the day seems to make more sense for that?

I'm not naturally an early riser but have to for work. I find it beneficial to shower at night, as you have to get up even earlier to factor in time to wash/dry hair etc. You can still have a quick 2 min shower in the morning if you want one but if you wake up with clean hair and shaved legs etc it feels like a bit of a head start.

I have been trying to do this, but still feel tired as the morning progresses, what is the best time to go to bed so I can rise at 5.00a.m. and not feel tired later. Thanks

Marie Carey do you already have knowledge of how many hours of sleep your body needs? if you do, you could just calculate the time that way. good luck!

what time does Rocco wake up? does he sleep through every night? I still have issues with my 2yo Son sleeping through, I don't work, but like you am a single Mother and I start a fulltime course next month, I'm nervous about needing to start my own routine when he still wakes in the night or is up for the day if he wakes from 4am or any later.

+Jenna Rocco definitely does not sleep through and often ends up in my bed! So hard! I am realising that I am going to have to be a bit stricter with him now…xCC

Such a great topic to share!! Just some constructive criticism try to avoid the word 'uhm' when you're presenting. It keeps the focus on your message rather than your speaking. But in general keep up the good work :D

Around 9-10pm... I really try to get to bed early so I can have some 'me' time, tuning out to a book or doing a little light research on my iPad! xCC

Do you have a rule for yourself about hitting the snooze button?

Waking up and going to bed early is such a struggle. I hate myself when I go to bed later, hence wake up later. However going to bed later is so much easier for me 🙁

+zeezeenu It's so easy to fall into a habit of going to bed late particularly if you start playing on your computer, internet etc... before you know it hours have passed and its midnight! xCC

Doesn't it mean you will just be tired earlier at night? Therefore you will go to bed earlier at night and not really gain any extra hours in the day?
@SugarMamma9 жыл бұрын
+Jaz Higgins I go to bed around 9.30-10pm... I am up roughly 17 hours each day... I think that's enough for me! I get more things done earlier in the day because I am fresh, motivated and there are less distraction compared to later in the day. xCC

This doesn't work if you always wake up feeling like someone hit you during the night...I just never wake up feeling rested. ugh.
@SugarMamma8 жыл бұрын
+Agatha Fehr I know that feeling all too well... I feel like Rocco sometimes sneaks in and thumps me in the night ;) However I do believe getting a solid 8 hours sleep when possible does make a huge difference as well as the routine of waking up at the same time each morning. xCC
