Update: We were experiencing some issues jumping on plane and were not reaching our anticipated top speeds with the three blade prop that was on our motor. So we switched to a four blade prop and immediately improved our rate of getting up onto plane and were able to achieve our typical top speed. This was the first time I had to consider changing props and it made a huge difference. So if your motor is not performing just right, changing the prop is something to consider!

What was your original 3- blade prop pitch/ diameter and what did you change to pitch & diameter on the 4- blade? Max RPM on WOT….???
@RamseyFisherКүн бұрын
@@JCASTELLUCCIOJRI honestly could not tell you those specs. I wish I knew more of the fine details but what we experienced with the 3 blade was a fast increase in RPM without the boat properly accelerating or getting on plane and after on plane the boat was not reaching the appropriate top speeds to RPM ratio. When switching to the new motor the mechanic mentioned there was the possibility of needing a four blade. After switching, the boat had a much faster and smoother transition to on plane and still maintained a balanced high speed to RPM ratio.

Which prop are you running on your motor and what has the performance of the motor been like for you. Looking at repower if my 07 pathfinder with the same motor.

Thanks for the Yamaha break-in video! I’ve never owned a Yamaha, but have one on order and looking forward to joining the club. Hoping for many years of great service from my new outboard.

Happy to hear you liked it! They are great motors.

Looking to repower with that exact motor on a 2008 pathfinder 2200 tournament. What’s your review of the motor so far, and what top speed are you getting with it. Thank you.

I’ve been a fan of the motor so far. We kept our previous motors 3 blade on and only had a top speed of 43mp, but are switching it out for a 4 blade prop to improve the rate of jumping up on plane.

If your only getting 43 mph there is a problem and your hurting the break in for sure which is very important on these motors to seat the rings so they don't make oil/ dilute oil with fuel. It's a must that you can hit 5800 atleast 6000 is better. Keep a close eye on that oil bet its making plenty. Just put same motor on a skeeter sx210 which is a heavier boat and i hit 55 mph at 6k rpm and she gets on plane yesterday @RamseyFisher

@@thomasmcrae6411haha, i love the comment “gets on plane yesterday”. And check out my pinned comment on this video, we did realize we were experiencing low performance with the three blade and switched it to a four blade prop and received much better results. We did not open it all the way up to full throttle on the last outing, it was a bit choppy, but we did reach 43mph with more room to boogie. I appreciate the comment, always more to learn.

Thanks for the input!! We are looking at a new prop now. I’ll share an update when we switch!

Hey Mike, can’t recall if I shared a response, but we switched from a three blade to a four blade prop and it’s been a great improvement with ideal performance for us.

We are still running our last motors 3 blade prop. We are currently in the process of switching it to a 4 blade prop as we had issues jumping on plane. Overall, happy with the motor, just looking to get the right prop on it.
