Thanks man, no asthma but a lifelong smoker until 3 weeks ago, took my first mma class and that was that, this is a great foundation and a edge I will need as a 33 year old with ambition. I will keep this in mind constantly. Great to find it early so I can make it second nature from the go.

Excellent. Solid information, introduction to the terms and a reference to McKeown. Not only did I learn a lot, I also feel that I know how to seek more information. Subscribed.

Cheers my man! I’ve been re-educating my breathing for a while now, today I have a really good control while I’m training or doing a high intensity cardio session. A way I found that helped me a lot was controlling the breathing while taking a sauna, I don’t know the science behind it, but it surely helped a lot!

Hey phil, first of all i wanna thank you for all the material that you give to us. Those videos helped me very much in my training. Me and the people in my gym use those videos for our open-mat-training. Keep it up!... my question is if you could a video like this one to open/stretch your hips for example when to stretch/ how to stretch and so on. My hips are really tight because i train my legs in the gym really hard so i wanna be able to throw high kicks but i just can't.

This was really helpful. I'm having a super hard time breathing in MMA, compared to just Jiu-Jitsu. Everyone else, including people at my level, seem to breath better than I do. I get winded fast and my performance takes a dive quick.

So as I'm sitting here Im noticing my breathing is about 3x per minute of this nasal diaphragm breathing and my BOL score is around 17 seconds. That 3 per minute is actually fairly nornal breathing in a relaxed state for me this is something I've been focused on a lot lately, but I have noticed a lot of really quick short inhales when I don't think about it. Also I've always been a mouth breather, difficulty with my nasal passages, something I'm working on addressing. I only have my skills training 2x week, I'm not competitive and I'm busy working lots, which is physically demanding pushing heavy carts around. Would you say this is pretty good shape? And also, 6 breaths per minute is that more of a goal for in between exercises at the gym say? Or in the context of a fight is that the goal in between exchanges or would it be more for in between rounds?

great advice. you open up a real ancient way of life. when you walk through nature you breathe more relaxed and your calm. also you can take in all the natural aromas that help heal you. this is why the germanic tribes were so strong. also their respect for the environment gave them the will to kick roman ass. thanks phil please keep punching. remember the viking pledge. we/i respect it always.
