Wondering how to brew hazy IPA at home? Don't forget to download my free Hazy IPA recipe: bit.ly/3lWsaOa. And after you're done watching this one check out the rest of the playlist here: • Hazy Days
This week I’m continuing my deep dive into the world of Hazy IPAs and we’re comparing three Imperial Yeast strains. I’ve said it before but it’s almost impossible to evaluate a single component without running into another. Just like dry hop timing, yeast selection plays a critical role in biotransformation and of course contributes to things like attenuation, appearance, body, aroma, and basically every other aspect of the final product.
Now, let’s make some beer

Sweet!! Love using Juice in my hazies, but I would also recommend adding Dry Hop to your lineup. The Sacch Trois really pops the fruit, plus it has all the good qualities of the Conan strain in there as well! Side note: how did you set up the triclamp setup for your anvil bucket fermenters?

I’m super curious to try that blend. Anything with that barbarian in it sounds killer! Two are welded ferrules and one is still using a weldless bulkhead I found that just drops right into the lid. Working on sourcing more to maybe offer on my website

For the second dry hop addition have you thought about cold crashing 1st and added the hops while cold. I read that Weldwerks does this for their Juicy Bits to help with hop burn.

Just curious what your base malt was? Just used pale ale malt for the first time and am really liking it over 2 row and Pilsner but have heard of people throwing in some Gold Promise.

How's the Vienna been doing in the grain bill? Still is a little surprising in the grain bill cause I don't see that too often in neipa. I love white wheat in my neipa usually more so than flaked oats. I have a neipa recipe ready to go but I really need to get some low oxygen stuff like what you have with the sight glass
@HopsANDgnarly
@HopsANDgnarly 3 жыл бұрын
I’m still stoked on the Vienna. It’s pretty subtle but adds a little depth kind of like a small honey malt addition would. I’m going to walk it back a little but I think it’s there to stay. Have you tried the magnet thing? I’d like to test that out sometime but it’s not as visual as this method
@thebird36
@thebird36 3 жыл бұрын
@@HopsANDgnarly the aging magnet thing? We literally just talked about that in my homebrew group lol but with imperial stout. I'm not sure the affects for a neipa since a neipa needs to be newer and fresh brewed compared to an imperial
@HopsANDgnarly
@HopsANDgnarly 3 жыл бұрын
We might be talking about different things. Basically you stick your dry hops to the lid on brew day and then release them when the time is right for a dry hop by pulling the top magnet. TheApartmentBrewer used this method for a while and seemed to work well for him
