Ok, we should have clarified, the dark color (greenish hue) was 100% due to the fact that we had not crashed and transferred the beer yet. There is absolutely no chance that it was oxidized, but I can see why folks guess that, as the VHS footage kind of casts a purple hue. The pour shots at the beginning of the video were done after the beer had a chance to condition and was transferred to another keg. So at the end of the day it was a beauty!

I never cold crash my beers and I make low EBC colour beers too, so I don't quite understand how that can darken your beer that much. Would be cool if you could explain!

Love your content! Looks oxidised to me. So hard to avoid with these styles. I use the same method with CO2 purging etc but in stays hard. CH once showed a good way to dry hop by using magnets. But you will need some more headspace in your fermenter for that. Cheers!

I've just started using this method and seems to work ok, still refining the process!

I just heard that crash-cooling your beer can cause the yeast to release proteolytic enzymes, thereby affecting foam stability. IDK but my next beer I'm going to chill it down real slow and see where that get's me. Apparently 3-5F per day seems to be good?

No worries there - the keg lasted about 3 hours after it was tapped!

Was there an OG/FG/ABV by chance? I love the grain bill, it is simple and will make an easy brew day for me. 4.5%ish is my guess on the ABV, am I close? As always I enjoyed the video and thank you for the content. Cheers!

Did you mill the oats? I saw you pour in unmilled carafoam on top of the oats in the bucket.

Another video that seems to affirm that CaraFoam serves no purpose at all. I've entirely dispensed with it in all my brewing as it seems to do absolutely nothing at all every time I use it. Half the recipes I used to use it in (the pale ones), I just replaced with the same quantity more base malt. The other (darker) half, I switched to using CaraHell which actually seems to help head retention.

Looks a bit oxidized? I recently oxidized mine when slow cold crashing and I forgot to add pressure to the keg. Whoops. The hop burn might also be from oxidation

Unfortunately, the color is oxidation. These super heavy cold side hopped beers are really hard to keep oxygen out of and it doesn't take much to really affect the beer. Luckily, the color (brown dish water color) comes before flavor. So, drink it fast brajs!

Like a technologist and brewmaster in the past I agree with you) When you solve this problem in your homebeer - that's a real victory, I'm talking about styles like NE and even pale ales)
