I was at a bottle share last Friday and brought a store pick of Buffalo Trace and a bottle of Woodford Double Oak. Figured that was safe. The guy that hosted realized I was slightly into bourbon, so took me downstairs and shared some Stagg with me that he didn't want to share with the group. It was a good night.

As an Austinite, I visited Still in the early days while they were making "white whiskey" cocktails at the distillery and relying heavily on marketing. Then their aged stuff started hitting the market. Wasn't blown away and thought it was overpriced. But NOW?! Now they have it all very dialed! The cask strength is a very good bottle at a very fair price. Good shit!

It is kind of funny to crack open a new bottle and by the end of the night its half gone with just a handful of friends. Really highlights which bottles your group enjoys and which they don't. I was going to go team Sean but #TeamDan AND I want a new series called Fits of Dan Mostly because out of all of them to come across at a bottle share the WT 101 12 year would be my first choice even if I could only try one.

It would be so helpful to hear some tasting notes so I could get my feet wet with all the big players. From there i could explore more whiskeys within the profile I like. Funny , back in 2018 the first yr of the Woodford reserve master collection barrel proof bottle. I bought and took to a bottle share party and when I opened and tasted , was like oh no I fucked up. Since then I have gone out and acquired 3 more. Lol

#teamsean I think I agree with a lot of the reasoning between both though. As someone with very limited money to spend anything above $30 starts to get rough to buy unless it's 1.75. Having the chance to try something like a Bluerun, or Origin would be great. On the flip, trying something that only stays within a certain state or store that you couldn't get to try easily would also be an amazing thing at a bottle share too.. I think, in case you get hung up on a "No mine is better I am not budging" moment, you could have someone local, that you trust their palate, and have them there as a tie breaker maybe? Just a thought for the future
