Thanks for videos, mate. It's 2023 and I've just bought a Silver Century Seagull (cost NZ$300). Looking forward to working on it. Your videos are invaluable. Great to see there's still so much love out there for these wee motors. Cheers from NZ.

I’ve just been given one of these for free. Has a larger after market fuel tank on it. It’s currently missing the clamp to mount it. Hopefully it won’t get much to get it running! Thanks for the informative video!

Very nice video documentary. If you are able to find out more about the extended tank maybe even a link and put it in the description That would be appreciated. And the plastic bottle trick is good to know. I ran a small lawn mowing and snow blowing business for several years. I had a couple of 2 liter bottle tops cut where the curve met the side of the bottle. they made for very wide funnels that sat nicely in all the gas run equipment fill holes. they werent a snug fit like this but it saved alot of waste from shakey hands and they fit over the gas can spout nicely too. I plan to make use if it when I get the seagull I just picked up going and on my boat.

where are you based? i've just purchased a Seagul and may need a hand getting her up and running, or if there's anyone in and around the Fareham area that may be able to help me out please reply and lets get another Seagul back on the water where it belongs ! thank you

It is suggested by Seagull that gearbox oil should be checked every 10 hours of running. Usually by that time water has got into the gearbox and the oil is emulsified. No idea when to change the gearbox fluid was given in the original "Operating Instructions" and it was expected that seawater would get in and emulsify. My Century Plus does not have an oil seal or one listed in the parts list.

I just purchased a Sea Gull but mine is a bit different then yours in that it has 5 blade prop and the skag is different also ! I’m missing the transom bracket and wonder if there still available through a club or individual ? My intention is to restore it and use it on my row boat . I don’t know the year or horse power and maybe you could help ?

Maybe someone here can help? I have a Seagull Silver Century that I've spent well over 30 hours on trying to get the cooling water flowing properly. I bought it second hand and the when I popped her open the water channels were completely plugged with debris, scales and crud. I've spent many hours cleaning it out without success? I do get some water dripping or spitting out of the outlet - but then it just stops and steam starts coming out instead? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Try reverse flushing with a hose pipe in the water outlet

My fuel tank won't come off. Can you provide me with some hints how I can get it off?
@AnchorDesigns4 жыл бұрын
Hi Theodor, Is it the two bolts under the tank itself? Mine was pretty gummed up and i had to give it some love taps to release? if you hit square onto the bolts it should come off ok. Best of luck!

hey mate i have a seagull engine you might want to restore? it seems to be bigget than the one you have at the moment. i have no knowledge of it but from my observation, sounds like there is no piston in it. when you turn over the engine you can here the rod hitting things inside as if there is no piston... great video aswell you seem to be a really talented and interesting guy

I am going to make a suggestion and there is no intention of offense being intended. I have worked on multiple makes of antique and vintage outboards. Please premix your fuel and oil in a separate container prior to adding it to your fuel tank. If you add the fuel and oil in the tank without premixing you could put your motor at risk for inadequate lubrication. Some motorist feel that it will bend together well enough to without the need to premix prior to adding it to the tank. Again, no offense intended, just offering some experienced advice. For the past several years the British Seagulls have caught my eye and attention and so far, I am enjoying your video!!! Cheers

It was premixed. Thanks for the comment.

All Seagulls should start in 3 revolutions of the flywheel. If they don't then they're not set up correctly.

good video,, just a nit pick though,, all seagull nut's and bold threads were in a "British Witworth thread",, none were in "British standard fine" or "British standard cores",, and the pin that go's through the propeller shaft bushing,, is called a ""roll pin!""
@spency7874 жыл бұрын
Nit picking right at you... www.saving-old-seagulls.co.uk/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?t=6040 Seems to be a number of BSF threads used?

Nonsense, BSF threads are common on seagull engines. The flywheel nut for example is 7/16 BSF.
