You know I really appreciate this…. As doctors, dental professionals, dentists, etc. it’s great business for you for people probably not to be consistent with brushing their children’s teeth so giving people tips on how to do. This shows that you’re not in it for the profits.

This was extremely helpful. I have tried so many different techniques to make teeth brushing fun. Recently my twins flat out refuse me brushing at all. I have been pinning down and brushing like this. It’s difficult and upsetting for the parent too! Gotta get it done!

I’m a dental hygienist and this helped for my 13mo girl! I pin her down and she screams for the entire 20s that I’m brushing but then she grabs the toothbrush and happily starts “brushing” herself :)

What I actually do is have her lying down on the floor, her head in my crotch and her arms held down under my thighs, so I’m brushing her from behind her head. It works.

Thanks for this guys. I actually did the one on one version a few months back when my daughter continuously refused to brush at night, and afterward I felt so bad that I had cried (in a separate room downstairs) and went back up to hug her and apologize. Seeing this makes me realize it wasnt that bad of a thing to do as a parent.

This video made me feel so much better. My daughter is 1 yrs old. I’m a first time mom. I have to pin her down and get on top of her just like he was illustrating in the video. Of course I’m careful not to hurt her. But I feel so bad like I’m a horrible parent because she is screaming! But I also don’t want her to have rotting teeth. I have tried to make things fun, but she just won’t have it. I guess I’m not terrible like I thought. Hopefully she will warm up to brushing her teeth so I don’t have to do this. I hate making her cry 😢

What should you do when you’re holding them down with your legs, they’re allowing you to brush the bottom teeth yet they will not allow you to brush the top teeth? Like she won’t allow me to lift her lip up to get to the top teeth, and then she keeps pushing the toothbrush out with her tongue, what do I do because her top teeth are pretty bad
@bronwynsmith26614 жыл бұрын
Any tips on getting my daughter to stop sticking her tongue over her bottom teeth when brushing them? I've tried pinning her down but my issue isn't her physically fighting me but rather pushing the brush out the way with her tongue. She is 2 and its becoming a fight every day now.

Good technique having someone hold his hands. My two-year-old son will always grab the brush. But what if you can’t get him to even open his mouth? My son will close his mouth tightly and if I do manage to get the brush in his mouth, he will bite down on it, so I can’t brush. If I can get his mouth open, he will cover his teeth with his tongue. Even if I use brute force and his mom is holding him down, it’s still not easy.

My baby’s teeth came out eroded especially in the front the dentist did a floride treatment that turns them black but they are so eaten away I can see his gums in the center I’m contemplating on them pulled but I worry that he will have more trouble with eating and what about when he goes to school and basically has no teeth until he’s 7 I don’t want him to get bullied I was wondering if you had and extra suggestions

My 16 month old is fine when I’m doing her back teeth, it’s when I get to the front top and bottom she checks out! She uses her tongue to push toothbrush away from the bottom and on the top teeth she uses her top lip to cuff the top teeth . What can I do to get passed this?

Brushing my toddlers teeth is a nightmare:( he HATES it with a passion and SCREAMS CRIES SOOO LOUD:( I feel sooo bad and a bad mama for holding him down brushing his teeth, but if I don’t hold him down I wouldn’t be able to do it Bc he absolutely won’t let me. I also floss his teeth and he hates that worse than the brushing. So far his dental appointments have been good, I hope he won’t be traumatized by this the rest of his life Bc He is the most resistant, and my grandma makes me feel like a bad mom Bc of all the crying he does when he brushed his teeth and flossing:(

Bottle mouth is a very painful condition of dental caries caused by milk before bed and not brushing
@a.doughtie68823 жыл бұрын
@@normatillotson7909 lol no it's not. My son had milk before bed after brushing and sometimes didn't brush at all at night, rarely ever in the mornings. No bottle mouth. He was well nourished with minerals and vitamins like magnesium, d3, and k2, but he didn't eat sugar and bread. No decay. Bacteria cause infection and decay, but only in the presence of nutritional deficiencies. It's not the bottle or what's in it that's the problem. Its what's NOT in it that's the problem.

My dental practice experience proved otherwise. The composite of milk is sugar; bacteria’s favorite food.
@a.doughtie68823 жыл бұрын
@@normatillotson7909 actually, the sugar in milk is lactose and the most common bacteria that cause dental decay don't feast on lactose sugar. They make acid from glucise, sucrose, and fructose, and the acid is what breaks down tooth enamel.
