Good tips! Great job saving almost $40,000. Some years ago, after my divorce felt like I was starting over. I decided paying the minimum on my student loan just wasn't cutting it anymore, I really changed my mind set about money and buckled down. Paid $23,000 in debt (most of it was student loan) in 2 years and then at 35 yr old, was the first time I started saving towards my retirement account. It was late but didn't beat myself up, better late than never. 7 years later, I have about $100,000 in my retirement accounts. I am maybe still behind for my age but changing how I think about money was the best thing I ever did. I live below my means, I tend to buy quality vs quantity for clothes etc., save towards my emergency fund, and save specifically for travel or experiences in my fun fund. I live in an expensive city so cooking and taking my lunch to work also helps.

Great stuff! Could you please manage the echo downward for improved user experience. Also, please kick off or ban those guys using your posting to discuss other questionable stuff. They make up most of the comments at the time of writing this comment. Best wishes on all fronts!!
