How to Build a 383 from a LS 5.3 - Part 1: Disassembly

Disassembling my LS 5.3 engine checking for any internal damage
Today is a really exciting as I embark on a new part of the overall build of the customized suburban! This 5.3L V8 came out of a 2005 GMC Sierra with 150,000 miles on it.
I am making this video series to show you exactly how to build one of these engines for yourself. Everything I'm doing is something you can do at home in your spare time. Building one of these yourself is incredibly rewarding and something amazing you can use for years to come.

Great job my brother! I cannot wait to see the outcome of your project! your right the LS is an awesome engine.. I’m still trying to find out why my transmission is not going into gear only thing else it could be is the ECU!! The tour converter is at its designated spot believe it or not this is the fourth time I’ve taken this engine and transfer a case down

@@Slicpartna yes! the transmission shifts The only noise that it makes is when I’m trying to put it in park it grinds

Are you making a stroker out of top end 5.3 and bottom end out of 4.8

Negative, it will have a 4" stroke 5.3 bored to 3.903 Let me know if you have any more questions

Hey brother been checking out your videos I have a 93 Chevy suburban having issues with driveshaft. Im running 5.3/4l60e and seems as driveshaft needs a inch more to fit correctly, can I asked what did you do on your swap

Whatz up doc, I didn't have any issues with my driveshaft with the swap. I did have a custom driveshaft built though. My factory driveshaft had too much run out from the factory. Joker would vibrate the truck violently. What problem are you having?

@@Slicpartna it’s like and inch to short for my liking it’s fits in place but the yoke comes out to much when locking it to rear end

@@jayrob9439 ok i got cha Does the motor plates that was used allow for 1" forward and 1" back to position the engine/transmission? Probably can gain the 1" by repositioning the engine/transmission Just a thought
