how to build a 383 from a LS 5.3 (rotating assembly) part 2

Today is a really exciting as I embark on a new part of the overall build of the customized suburban! This 5.3L V8 came out of a 2005 GMC Sierra with 150,000 miles on it.
I am making this video series to show you exactly how to build one of these engines for yourself. Everything I'm doing is something you can do at home in your spare time. Building one of these yourself is incredibly rewarding and something amazing you can use for years to come.

Currently doing same build on my 5.7 aluminum block .. l&r engines in socal did my block for me 585$ decked align honed bored to 3.903 tanked new cam bearings , currently waiting stroker assembly from scat telling me mid August. BTW just saw that picture there machine shop was way organized

Cool cool, i am enjoying the build Supply chain issues are a drag! I had to wait like 2.5 months to get my rotating assembly, then 6 weeks at the machine shop ugh! Be sure to clean the block yourself Just a suggestion. Trust but verify! What is your horsepower goals?

@@Slicpartna denf yeah they cleaned the block well and wraped with plastic..its in my living room partially exposed i have to re clean some cylinder walls all in all pretty clean from shop.. meh like 600hp naturallly aspirated going holley EFI terminator x stealth tbi ... swapping into my 71 nova ill be happy with 500 tbh lol

How much this run you at the machine shop? Looking to do the same set up

Hey machine shop work wasn't that expensive it is based on what you want done. It was $400-$500 Be sure to research the machine shop you plan to use. I would suggest talking with at least 2-3. Feel them out, see if you get a good vibe from them and they are passionate about thier work and reputation. Not all machine shops are the same Be sure to get reviews and/or recommendations. Have a list of what you want done Put a copy with your block and parts Even though the machine shop may cleans your parts, be sure you clean them yourself. Let me know if you have any questions
