I'm a Carpenter going on 35yrs. Getting old! Enjoy your work. Your attention to detail is what I enjoy. Many craftsmen start to drop the Fine details that can make a very ordinary project into something very special. Don't ever change. Really enjoy your channel, thanks for all the hard work and entertainment. Vinny

Love your trim work. You make it look easy . When I'm working on one of my projects and make a miter joint that requires little or no sanding, I call it a "Jon Peters" joint. Keep sharing your woodworking project.

Jon, your videos just keep getting better. This one is packed with information. Knowing that you have had this project hanging around for 6 years is some how reassuring that there is hope that one day I will finish a few of my "hanger-on" projects. The details you show and the tips you give on finishing are appreciated. The tour of the room was great, thanks again for the trim tips. I had noticed the ceramics their story was appreciated.

Nice video, nice work. You are 100% correct with the "how does the trim end" sentiment. Sometimes the first thing I look at is how the trim ends, it really tells how much thought went into the work.

Try laminating a piece of formica to the bottom of the drawer pan before assembly. It works especially good in kitchen and bath cabinets. Sinks, water valves and drains will always leak and don 't forget about kid's tooth paste tubes. The formica offers a little extra protection. You will never regret it. Keep up the good work. I always enjoy your videos. Dave at Niagara Falls.

Thanks for sharing Jon. I like your daughter's art work on the back of her shelf. I appreciate your solid explanations and I learned a lot for my cabinet project. This video has a lot to like. I like the way you made the drawer with the left over space at the rear, and the quarter inch dado for the bottom. Then topping it off with the drawer front trimmed out that way. Very nice, neat design that hit all my OCD buttons. BTW, I could only use one knob because you have one on each door above it.I hate to take sides, but your wife is right on this one. The trim in the hallway is especially nice. Great idea for when I get to my inside the house refurb. Many great ideas and great builds in all your videos brother. Keep em coming!

Thanks for that excellent video. Drawer pulls take up a lot of my thinking and in your case it is not a problem since a protruding pull will not get in the way. It is only the final look that counts. With hindsight, it might have been an idea to put a lip on the face frame for that.

I've begun to notice how most trim is cut at a 45 degree angle when it meets the door frame, and it always reminds me of how you like yours to dead end with that extra strip around the door. Broken record, but man what a difference! Thanks for the vids and info Jon.

The drawer front trimmed out nicely, looks great! Curious about the bottom, though. You could have gained additional strength and rigidity by gluing the plywood bottom into all four sides. Why did you use that traditional drawer bottom technique that is intended to let solid wood bottoms expand?

What precise and beautiful work! A true master woodworker. Just to confirm, you said you put on a latex base coat of white paint on cabinet, then you added a finish coat of oil enamel paint? I did not think this was possible. Did you have to sand down latex first? I made the mistake of painting my RV wall cabinets in white high quality latex paint. I gave them an oil primer base coat, then latex. I would really like to use oil paint if I can Please confirm I can do this!

@williamgeorgelopezjunior85335 жыл бұрын

I really appreciate the approach and the aesthetic of this drawer. The ONE "nit" I'd like to pick was the joining of the drawer using screws into the end grain and the screws being visible. As you're already making something like a false-front (see below), I would like to point everyone over to Jay Bates' video on drawer construction using pocket screws: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXy5oGCogdtgjZo As long as you're using a false front, pocket screw joints are stronger than screwing into end-grain plus the benefit of no visible screws. BUT IMO, the real star of this show is how you build up the face of the drawer using trim rather than the more common approach of laying on a whole piece of board up front. I saw this on some old English furniture (to hide thru-dovetails) and I'm glad to see others see this as well. Great *approach* to the project. I'm subscribing!
