Love it !!! Finally… I love colors !! Tired of seeing only boring neutrals .

Thank you! So glad to finally found someone who doesn't think the perfect wardrobe is all light neutrals and black with the occasional very small pop of color.

Absolutely! We love colour and it's all about making it work for YOU 🌈

Totally agree - I am fed up of reading how everyone needs a crisp white shirt in their capsule wardrobe when clearly it does not work for everyone!
@tlcstyleandcolourАй бұрын
SO great to see someone else talking about creating a capsule wardrobe which is much more suited to the individual and their colouring (and style) rather than the usual 'you need x number of things' and that they need to include a white shirt/tshirt and camel trench coat !!

I love Jo's emphasis on how the wardrobe FEELS as well as the colour palette. With colour analysis there is huge emphasis on warm/cool light/deep, bright/muted, but if the colours' look good' on you, but don't 'feel good' to you to wear, then the system doesn't really work. I struggled with this for years as a very strong Natural personality in a Winter palette. When I finally realised I didn't like wearing most of the Winter palette, and investigated the Deep palette (which draws on both Winter and Autumn) I found I was able to put together clothes that looked good but also made me feel relaxed and happy.

I’m so glad to hear someone who doesn’t think black and white are for everyone. Neither of those colors is good on me. I love your ideas of five colors. Some of my favorite colors are in your last set. 😊

Your best colours are personal to you. Sometimes what suits the majority just doesn't work for you and that's ok! There's always an alternative. We're glad you could recognise some of your favourites! 🌈,

I so agree with you. I hate stark white and black, and they’re everywhere. They do not suit me. This system seems simple and adaptable.
@dianasummers5276Ай бұрын
Dale, have you been analysed? It sounds as if you are a Spring palette.
@dale3404Ай бұрын
@@dianasummers5276 You nailed it. Several decades ago, a group of us had our colors done, and I was told I was a summer and my best friend was a spring. We would go clothes shopping, and I could never find anything, but spotted her colors from across the store. A few years later, the salon offered an updated analysis. Lo and behold, I’m a spring! (She is a winter.) What season are you?

As soon as I saw the colours I hoped this would be a capsule wardrobe video worth watching!! I wasn’t disappointed 🥰 It’s helpful to see how you combine the neutrals and colours. This is a fantastic guide as is and it’s easy to adjust too. I love variety so I’d add a few extra brights or prints for my own wardrobe! And I know a few people who don’t like denim but they could easily substitute a favourite fabric like corduroy, leather, or linen

Thank you, Jo! Wonderful advice for starting out. Personally, I don't feel comfortable in any denim. My weekend wardrobe is based around the Kettlewell weekend skirt and casual trousers. So I would adapt your advice to "a dark neutral, a light neutral and THREE brights." I'm sure other viewers will have their own ways of adapting your advice to suit their personal tastes and lifestyle. Fortunately, the Kettlewell collections are broad enough to supply something for all of us!

Different denim suits different people? This is an eye opening revelation for me. I have light denim which i enjoy but then i have darker denim that just sits there. I feel like i should have it in my wardrobe as it is a bit smarter but it never gets worn. Maybe it is just not me 😮
@kettlewell_colours2 ай бұрын
It certainly does! It sounds like you've assigned yourself a palette without even realising. If your light denim is what you feel and look best in, there's always ways to elevate it for smarter occasions 🙂 🌈

Thanks. I always think of light denim as being very casual. I would love some tips on elevating it.

Can you please do a capsule wardrobe for a Spring colouring for someone that wants a more serious look? My colours as a Spring include turquoise and salmon but I can’t stand them. I always feel I look like a children’s entertainer in these bright colours when I want to look polished and classic. Desperate for some help. I like navy and oatmeal but need a change. Thank you!
@edennis85782 ай бұрын
Another Spring, here. I only wear one bright color at a time, usually a top. For a professional setting, your colors don't have to be bright as much as clear. In other words, dusty or muted tones aren't usually good (they make *me look dead, that's for sure). I do well with light colors like aqua and sea glass tops; also beige, very pale clear gray, ivory, royal blue, even dark (warm) rusty red. Bright blouses might be good for certain presentations and speeches.

What about cognac or saddle tan? I've found that someone, somewhere, is going to see almost every color as something... inconvenient. It got to the point once where I was afraid to wear anything but navy and burgundy. Not my best colors. I finally gave up worrying (too much) about colors I wear. It was driving me stark, staring mad.

We love that you found the courage to be authentically you with your colours! 🌈
@kettlewell_colours2 ай бұрын
It might be helpful to play with lighter shades of brown that are used more commonly as a neutral base such as camel/tan as @edennis8578 suggested! This will hopefully make your outfit feel more sophisticated and elegant and less 'tree-like' 😂🌈

But how do you know which pieces to make which colours?, I see you generally have 2 in each colour.
@kettlewell_colours2 ай бұрын
The beauty of a cohesive colour palette is that you have the freedom of choice! As long as you keep within the realms of your palette, all your pieces will mix and match endlessly. For example you could have 5 mustard tops and 5 chocolate trousers and they will all pair, or you could have 2 mustard tops, one chocolate trousers, 1 olive skirt and 2 cream jackets and they will still all pair... the number of pieces in each colour is entirely up to you! 🌈

where are the skirts & dresses ? & i dont do denim because it is too boring ~
@kettlewell_colours2 ай бұрын
You can translate the rules into your own style preferences, it's the colour rules that apply to make it work. Same goes with denim. For example you might try a Rich Chocolate tailored trouser or a Navy corduroy skirt as your dark neutral and a cream dress or white shirt as your light neutral... it's completely adaptable to you! 😊🌈

How odd of you. I would never wear one because not at all my color but the advice here was really good. Sometimes after I watch something I decide the advice doesn't apply to me but prejudging means you miss a lot.
