How do you drain it when you actually have to change the water since you have the wood framing?
@TroyDelaney3 жыл бұрын
The wood frame only has 3 sides and slides out when I need to drain the freezer.

Hi Troy! Great video. Building a chest freezer plunge this week! How are the seems holding up after a year? I was swayed towards JB water weld instead of Marine adhesive sealant 5200. Also, what is the material make/model on top of lid to prevent condensation? Thank you!
@TroyDelaney2 жыл бұрын
Awesome! So far so good. I did have to replace my first freezer after a year because the compressor went but I never found a leak so I don't think that caused it. JB is definitely a safer route but much more expensive and time consuming. The material is fabric with a plastic layer so water can't get through

@@TroyDelaney That is the best news. Water weld was putting me off .. looks so ugly and hard to use ... I feel confident using silicone now. This is proving to be quite a project. Your video has made it a lot easier.. thanks again.

Do you run the filter 24/7 or is it on a timer?
@TroyDelaney Жыл бұрын
27/7 unless I'm in it. It doesn't use much electricity and it also prevents ice from forming.

Hi Troy , how has the silicone sealant held up? Would you use it if you did it again ?
@TroyDelaney3 жыл бұрын
Great question! After a year the compressor went on my first freezer. I'm not sure if that was related to a leak or something else. I used the same silicon for my new freezer.
@bonbooty66113 жыл бұрын
@@TroyDelaney thanks for sharing your knowledge and setup. Another person who has done this uses JB waterweld. It’s way more time consuming and expensive to do. I haven’t looked that deep into this topic but liked your solution

I have the same freezer. When the freezer is chilling down the water the exterior walls get warm (which I know is normal) but the left one does not. Does yours function the same or is something wrong with mine?
@TroyDelaney3 жыл бұрын
That's normal. The compressor is on the right side so it get hotter. I add 100 lbs of ice to mine when I initially fill it so that the freezer doesn't have to run as long which prevents it from getting as hot.

How has it held up 3 years later?
@TroyDelaney Жыл бұрын
I had to replace it after a year because the compressor went. I don't think it was related to a leak though. My new one has lasted two years, no issues.

I should note that it has been 2.5 years and the internal white coating is starting to peal away. The best solution to prevent this is to coat the inside with pond shield or use a pond liner.

How much hydrogen peroxide do you put in? I have had a freezer for about six months with the same marine land filter and its starting to get a cloudy even if I change the water and clean it.
@TroyDelaney3 жыл бұрын
I just pour a 32oz bottle in but there are more precise ways to do it. Watch my video on proper cleaning: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ionTaWavf7OZnrc
@Jeff-rx4de2 жыл бұрын
May I ask, how much and how often were you adding the Hydrogen Peroxide.
@TroyDelaney2 жыл бұрын
I don't use H2O2 anymore since I now have an ozone generator but when I did, I used about 32oz every time I emptied out and refilled it (~304 months).
@MrChe3052 жыл бұрын
Do you have a link to the ozone generator you use?
Greetings Troy, I'm getting the same unit but its arriving with coasters/wheels. Will those be okay with the added weight or do they need to be removed? Thanks!
@TroyDelaney3 жыл бұрын
I left the wheels off because I wasn't sure if they could support the weight.
