I had to make three modifications: first, as the room became populated with items air circulation was reduced creating warmer spots: second, in my high humidity area additional dehumidification was necessary - condensation built up on the seams of the door and it froze the door shut while still getting the settings right. Third, add one more electrical outlet than you think you'll need, there is always an extra light or tool you'll want to use in the room, even if just temoparaily - there won't be an extra extension cord keeping the door cracked open. Those small cracks kill the cooling faster than you'd think.

Thank you for the great tips! Blake did run a big fan in there to move air and that did help keep things more balanced, I forgot to mention that.

Very cool idea! I would buy a boat trailer winch with a pulley system and have it mounted at a good height to hoist those big boys. Great video!

Cool video! Do you know the comparison between a cool bot versus an actual walk-in cooler for energy cost?
@beaugibson295111 ай бұрын
The plug you pulled out of the ac is not supposed to be removed. Water builds up in the bottom and the fan is supposed to hit the water and fling water onto the metal cooling fins.
@THEFERMANATOR4 ай бұрын
Yep, it increases the efficiency of the condenser in high heat. The last window air I bought didn't really get cold until it built up some water in it for the fan to sling on the condenser.

In the old days they used sawdust in the walls to insulate.and ice blocks from a lake or stream that they put in the buildings while the temperatures were very cold and closed tbe door up until it was needed.

It would be interesting to hear what the power use on this is vs. commercial refrigerators. Also on that note, I would assume if you have sort of too much extra space in a cooler room like this you could place a freezer or two in there, and probably really reduce power use for those. It would be interesting to see some number crunch for those who are doing this for a business and/or want to maintain a solid power budget around it

I live in a semi-desertic area in Brasil and i dream of eating fresh strawberries. They only arrive here after a week travelling in a truck and they do NOT come cheap. I wonder if i can cultivate them in a room like yours with pink LEDs acting as the sunlight.

No way, are you Bajheera's twin brother or lost descendent? You look just like him, or he looks just like you, he's just bigger and plays a lot of games lol. Great tip, might have to try this out instead of a commercial built cooler/freezer. This could save us thousands.

Getting the height right for your own application is obviously important. I have large cattle. So to include height for winch as well as beast, super high. Thanks for the vid. It certainly fuelled my thoughts.

Coolbot is the way to go. That's cool you used spray foam instead of the tape. I was thinking of doing the same and wondered if it would work. Thanks.

If someone is selling food to the public, they will need to comply with the health codes of the county in which they are doing business. A person might be able to evade detection for awhile, but eventually it will come down. The health code states that all surfaces must be non-porous and easily cleaned and sanitized. This includes floors, walls, and ceilings. **If someone should become sick after eating food purchased from the business, and the business is not in compliance with the local heath codes, the legal liability $$ will be huge. The local authorities can also shut the business down. The bad publicity can be a killer. Meat processing is especially problematic because these activities come under the federal FDA jurisdiction.

This video was to show the simplest version of a build you can do to give people ideas and introduce them to the concept. This is to show a home level set up for people processing their own meat, not sale. Obviously completely containing the insulation is the professional way to do it.

That's what the coolbat is for. It over rides the temperature settings and it will help remove any ice build up you might get on the ac because of running it at a colder temperature

Do you have any problems of the cooler getting too cold over winter months? Wondering if we need to turn off the ac when the temperatures get below freezing outside… what are your thoughts?
@indieannajonesingАй бұрын
You could probably turn it to fan setting and the temp sensor maintains the temp set

What is the actual increase to your monthly bill? Also, do you have that room on generator?
@NaturesAlwaysRight11 ай бұрын
It's minimal. Compressor based cooler is more expensive to run. I think it's smart to always have a generator in case, even a back up AC unit. The room only runs when we need to cool down meat so it's not constantly.

Great point we do need a permanent humidity reading in there too. The air stays pretty dry, we didn't have any mold growth in winter but we'll see this summer.

Adding brewer's yeast to the compost pile speeds up decomposition and increases heat. For gardeners who practice vermiculture or raise worms in the compost pile for their castings, the addition of brewer's yeast increases the growth of worms and the quantity and quality of worm castings produced. Add Brewer's yeast to large container with water. Add sugar or molasses. Probably best when you are starting a compost pile as it adds heat.

Coolbot $374, why not just install a nest thermostat? Does the same thing and they're like $70.
@NaturesAlwaysRight Жыл бұрын
The coolbot tricks the AC into thinking the air is warm in the room and must run on the coldest setting.
@coathang3r43 Жыл бұрын
There is an option cheaper than the coolbot that can be around that 70$. Search for diy coolbot. Will see if this comment survives this ad for coolbot though.
