My mother was the same type as your girlfriend. She loved to buy "ensembles". From head to toe it consisted of pieces which matched only this ensemble. I always found that unnatural. And dreamed of interchangeable clothes. And that is what I strive for today. Good fashion videos help me with this task. As some other women wrote already, you show how several colours, even patterns can be part of the capsule wardrobe. That came as a surprise, but was convincing. I am so glad that I found your channel and found that my capsule pieces don't have to be all boring beige, navy and black! Your colour preferences are mine also, and I really love how you put pieces together. I thought it interesting that the dangly earrings were green - I would have been looking for something in blue or pink, probably - but I can see how the green would give an interesting contrast and unpredictability to your outfits, and show that you have natural flair, something I am striving towards.

I love all of your suggestions & information. Your love & loyalty to your style is a great inspiration to all of us. My 2 styles all my life was either work or jeans. I road horses in earlier years and jeans were a must & they just stuck. So after much watching you & Marie-Anne and not much luck on finding my personal style (I am getting closer) I decided to sign up for Stitch-Fix so that someone else picks out something that I would never pick out for myself. Great video! One reason your pieces work so well together is that they are all from the same brand and therefore practically designed to be mixed and matched. I have yet to find that brand for myself.

Hi Alina, Thanks for your message! Yes, I do tend to stick with a few brands and then I can easily mix and match them. I think the biggest question is...what is your style? Do you like classic, bohemian, romantic, etc. Once you identify your style it makes it much easier to align with a few brands and shop from them. Also, what are your favorite colors? What colors do you look good in? Only focus on those colors. Doing this will help you buy pieces that mix and match rather than one-offs that are difficult to put with other pieces in your wardrobe. 😀

So, even though you are spending a bit more on the clothes, they are an investment that won't go out of style in six months. But in the meantime, the key is to identify which pieces are your "basics" the ones that go with almost anything in your closet. If you isolate items, it will make it easier for you to decide which pieces you want to add to that collection to create your capsule.

Do you make several capsules and add to them as you can to fill in whatever might be missing? I like what I do have but I know it all doesn't go together.

What I recommend is to start by isolating your basic pieces then layer in a few patterned pieces that coordinate with your wardrobe to create a capsule. 😀
