HOW TO BUILD A DECK

love the simplicity and quick layout. Surprised though that the 16ft span needs only one middle support post. Is that strong enough ?

Great video! Are those posts 4x4? how did you attach the 4x4 posts against wall and in the middle for the railing?

They are 4x4 posts I believe. This was quite some time ago so hard to remember.

@Warren3carpentry Their are 2 post above the deck. 1 on each side of the door. Also a 3rd post in the middle of the deck on the end. Are they 4x4 posts just like the 4 posts you put into the ground and covered in cement? Also how did you attach them to the deck?

@adamceric yes they r 4x4s. I did not attach them.to the house only to the ledger board. The 4x4s fo into the ground and sit on cement. I do not build decks like this any more now I pour cement up level with the ground and use a metal connector to hold the 4x4s. All the decks I build now are synthetic as they last longer so its a different system now. Hope this helps.

is the ledgeer board screwed into the houses 2x4s ? wondering how and where the strength on the house side holds up

It is attached to the ledger board on the house yes.
