dont forget to add a mast and sail to it saving alot of gas when its windy you dont need much sail surface. i.imgur.com/XjRrAbB.jpg this is an ZK-10 Two masted 10oared cutter used for sport today and back then as recieving boat when outboard engines were a thing of the future and are dateing back to the times of trafalgar. with these you simply put the oars acros the deck and the blades vertical and you can sail this way upstream at 1 - 1 1/2 knots and this is roughly (stern included) 2 square meters moving 1 1/2 t

I love these videos, but I still don't know where exactly this piece of wood is going to be in the boat?
@bchrisl14918 жыл бұрын
I gather It is the vertical member of the bow. The very first piece that cuts through the water of the finished boat. The side cuts are to allow the side planks to be attached flush and string them together along the length of the bow. I am anxiously awaiting the next installment of this series.
@GreatHarlequin8 жыл бұрын
Ahh, so am I right in guessing he'll need to steam this piece next to bend it to make the front of the bow?
@kyrg8 жыл бұрын
I believe it will be scarfed in some way to the keel, It would be a mighty steam box indeed to bend that piece.
@shantytownshipwright73348 жыл бұрын
If you look at the cardboard model you can see that the stem has no bend and is near vertical. This boat will not likely have any keel, I'm guessing she will have perpendicular bottom planking and chine logs with a small skag strip on the centerline to help with tracking.

I'm curious why you don't choose a radius for the cut water? The tip would be more supported and could be blunter with much less effectively flat area up front.
