This was really helpful, thank you! Even though I don't have a belt sander or Dremel I still got some new ideas for constructing the sword I'm working on 😊

Been looking around for a simple EVA foam sword template and this looks ideal! I'll probably make the entire thing out of foam since I don't have any woodworking tools, but as long as the rod goes through the actual handle I don't think that should be an issue. This will be my first foam sword attempt so this should be interesting...

Fiberglass rods, look for driveway markers, they're bright orange and usually have a rubber tip

Awesome stuff man, followed along your NCR tutorial not so long ago and came out with a pretty decent ranger cosplay. Reckon you'll do any more Fallout content in the future?

Oh for sure! Thanks for being a part of the gang! Dark souls is my all time favorite franchise followed close by stuff like fallout so I reckon I’ll be doing some more fallout stuff! I’ve been in the early stages of a fallout fan film so yes you can for sure expect more fallout!

Great tutoria! I'm curious how you got that fuller to look so clean. Do you do all your sanding with the dremel? I can't get it to look as nice so I was hoping you'd have some tips. Thanks for sharing!

Very insightful! I'm on my way to Lowes now to see just how long the fiberglass rods they carry are. I know Home Depot carries longer stuff. Claymore comin' up.

This video totally rocks! I'm just going to suggest one thing, this sword is from Elden Ring, If you change the name of you video to have something to do with Elden Ring, you might bring in more viewers/subscribers. Just a thought.
@ashenwarriorprops2 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy! It’s in the souls trilogy as well so and since I based my personal design on the one from DS2 I figured souls was an appropriate title! Thanks seriously for the suggestion. While it would probly net more views I don’t wanna feel dishonest since there are a few things like the nub on the pommel and cross guard slight change and the fuller is shorter in ER. I have some elden ring content coming tho!

I’m asking everyone i see making a foam sword this, why not have a core in the cross guard? When i make weapon props i know I’m going to use them and put them through combat and the crossguard is either the first or second thing to wear down after the tip, but is there a reason to not have a core so the cross guard isn’t floppy?
@ashenwarriorprops6 ай бұрын
With HD foam I’ve never had an issue I’ve had some where I do core the crossbars and some when I don’t. No right or wrong way

Always check your local LARP guidelines, but if you use the fibreglass rod for a core it should be considered LARP safe!

@@ashenwarriorprops idk if you're noticed but your pattern longsword actually tilted on the tip to hilt, but straight from crossguard to pommel I noticed this when i trying to remake my own custom longsword from your pattern but notice something weird, i thought its my mistake when making but i guess not, so to balance it im tilting the hilt so it looks straight from tip to bottom
@ashenwarriorprops3 ай бұрын
@@Kaes.R no idea I just measured mine and it’s straight. Could be a print issue. I’ll check later. But if it’s a big issue use a ruler to double check. I never strictly rely on templates for anything other than shape.
@ashenwarriorprops3 ай бұрын
@@Kaes.R this really bothered me so I pulled it up in illustrator to double check and it’s perfectly straight on my end. Idk what would’ve happened. Regardless easy fix with a ruler. But yeah in 2 digital programs it’s perfectly straight. I’ve had warps when I tape the template together but I normally just use a ruler to correct it.
