If Technology Connections rebuilt engines. Thank you for the videos, looking forward to the rest down the line! I have 288,888 (just hit that yesterday) on my 5.4. Rebuilt my transmission last year and look forward to learning how to rebuild the engine soon! These videos definitely will be ones I come back to.

Very interesting. I just got a 2010 f150 from my gfs grandfather. Only 107 thousand kms on it but now realizing the engine on it . Thank god he changed the oil lots and already did the spark plugs .

I have been waiting a looong time for someone to post a detailed video series on rebuilding this motor. Like a really long time. I really appreciate the detail you go into, especially the part where you explain what to say at the machine shop, because yes it will be intimidating. I am really interested in seeing what the overall cost of the rebuild is compared to getting a reman. I can get a reman from local dealer here in Virginia for about $5k. So if it is even the same price it is worth the experience. Thanks again!

Thanks so much for watching! Yeah I hope it's less than that but I don't know at this point. I just got the block back and put the crank back in. So a new video for it should be up soon.

That’s awesome. Looking forward to it. Do you mind me asking what part of SoCal? We live in VA but are from SoCal. Lived in both L.A. and San Diego.

Ryan / Is the 4.6 3v. motor the same as what your doing on these over haul videos ? One more thing, thanks for the VERY detailed videos that you do to help people out there to save a lot of money and learn how to do automotive work themselves. You have a blessed day.

0.020 over on the Modular blocks is standard, and you can just to 0.010 if you can find the pistons, etc., their are some options available.

Our machinist wanted to go 0.030 so I listened to him. Honestly it doesn't matter that much go 20 or 30 as long as you can get the rings and pistons. Thanks for watching!

Cant wait for your rebuild videos . Probably a month before your next video?
@2carpros Жыл бұрын
Same! It is going to be fun! So the engine has been at the machine shop for a month, should be back this coming week then I need to film and edit. So my guess is 2 weeks. Thanks for being a member and for watching!

Using the mellings 360 high pressure high volume pump?

Yep. Thanks for watching!

Front of the engine is 1 and 5, not 1 and 2. 1,2,3,4 is passenger bank, 5,6,7,8 driver's bank. *on Ford Modulars only. Yes I'm more used to the Chevy SB/BB way also with one bank evens other bank odds. Also on the rod end separation, just tap on top of the bolts, because you are replacing them with ARP rod bolts, right? Highly recommended.
@2carpros9 ай бұрын
Oh I know. If I miss spoke it is due to it being upside down and I just got done building an LS. Yeah they got replaced with ARP bolts. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video. I'm in the process of rebuilding a stock 6.8L. I'm planning to reuse my connecting rods. The issue I'm having is how to safely remove the connecting rod bolts from the connecting rod caps? Do I have to press them out or do I unscrew them? I have new bolts, but need to get the old ones out. Again, thanks for the video.

How much would it cost to rebuild? I know the machine shop would vary according to market. How much do you think you have total in the rebuild?
@2carpros9 ай бұрын
My machine shop charged 1400 out the door. At the very end of the build I'm going to add everything up and give a total cost. Thanks for watching!

If they find an issue with the Mag test, can they fix any cracks?
@2carpros9 ай бұрын
Maybe. The cracks get drilled out and slugged then welded back together. Makes for a weaker block IMO. I would just get a different block. It's a lot of time and money to waste on a maybe. Thanks for watching!

So do you have to put it on time before taking it apart.

Nope. Thanks for watching!

How much would this cost someone to do in exactly this order minus machine shop fees & tools ,
@bret97416 ай бұрын
Too bad the machine shop wouldn't let you film their work!

I get it, not everyone is comfortable on camera and I want them to be as focus as possible doing the machine work. Thanks for watching!

@2carpros. Question cause Im just wanting clarification but if you use new Rods then it doesnt matter about the right orientation of the caps correct cause its all new.

Because I want this block and I know the engine is built right because I did it. Thanks for watching!
