In this video I attempt to show you how we determine grade and efficiently and accurately prep our columns for building. The use of a story pole is key, as well as correctly identifying grade on every bracket. I broke this video up into 2 separate videos due to the time length crossing over 30 minutes.

For me, the ideas in kzbin.infoUgkxAfqpMLyFn37qcqUl0FAzqkkycQeXqrhP Plans were a starting point for building different sheds . Ryan gives ideas that allow an individual to draw nicest conclusions into the design and building of his or her own shed.

What makes this more remarkable is that you do it all in inches. You lost me at 11/16ths. I’d have to use metric but it’s what your taught. Like this format of video

Can't take credit for this but a lot sheet metal people around here predrill holes in sheet metal so there screw lines are always straight. They'll stack it about a inch thick making sure bottom is even before drilling. Y'all do awesome work.

I agree that a little tidiness, transparency and logic is a huge part of building trust and therefore sales. When I'm driving around town and I see a job site like that I note down the company name. If I find videos like this, then it's a no brainer to hire them. So not only is it good for the current client and their word of mouth marketing, but also for the neighbours and people driving by. Totally subscribing to this channel, really appreciate the good content!

Love you're videos. Putting plans together for a 33x48x14 post frame garage. I have a story board question. When setting up your story board for a 12 foot high ceiling (bottom of trusses), you measure 12ft from the bottom of the story board, which is the 'grade' reference. However that datum is about 1-1/2in above the top of the cement pier. Since the top of finish floor is about 6in above the cement pier, that puts the ceiling height to the finished floor less than 12ft, or about 11' 7-1/2". If I want a 12ft ceiling to finished floor, then shouldn't my story board distance to ceiling be 12' 4-1/2"? Thanks.... Dan

If you pause the video at 3:12 it looks like the center board is 1 1/2 inches thick, while the outer boards are 1 3/8 inches thick. I would guess they mill the posts after they are glued together.

Could you do a follow up on the story pole. Maybe with a drawing on a white board including the grade, bracket, grade girt, wainscot, soffet nailer, truss and overhang. I've watched that segment several times and I'm still lost. I've also watched the SP short video and it didn't help. Tx. I know these seems very basic for a seasoned PF builder, but I have no experience in this area.
