When it comes to dowels, you can pick up a center finding jig fairly cheap. Or if you'd rather, you can make one. I think 3x3 custom has a plan for making one. Great video, the door looks awesome!

Yeah I actually have one 🙌🏼🙌🏼 I think I just need more practice and I didn’t have time with this one, but that’s great tip! Thank you

Nice build! Paste wax makes a huge difference for hard wood when using screws or bolts. Working with glass is always a challenge - with my luck it would shatter on me. :)

Woodworking has been a longtime hobby of mine, and recently, I've started taking on projects for clients. Determining the right price can be a challenge. I've received a request from a customer who wants a barn door. What would be a reasonable price for this door, excluding material expenses?
@oldporkchops2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing this video. It sure is something I can make. I really love how you used trim. It gives the appearance of a floating bottom panel with the plywood. Were there any concerns about seasonal wood movement since you used pocket holes?
@EternalHarvestDecor2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Glad it’s her helpful! Since I used dried hardwood and it will be indoors so I wasn’t too worried about movement.

Great video. You really should use pre stain conditioner before any stain especially with that thick valurathane.
@EternalHarvestDecor2 жыл бұрын
Tha is for watching, I’m not a fan of the pre stain, I never like the look when I use it personally.

This is just awesome, nice Job. This is exactly what I was looking for as an idea for my master closet. do you have any idea about the weight?

Just ran into this video because I want to make a front door with glass for a workshop. My question is the pocket hole jointer you used, is it enough to hold that size of a door. Just trying to find out if I can do that instead of other types of jointer such as tongue and groove that takes longer to do. Does the jointer wobble at all?
@EternalHarvestDecor2 жыл бұрын
It seems to have done the job but it does get very light use where it is installed, if it’s a front door, I would suggested dowels or dominos or even half laps for the joinery

What if the glass breaks? I noticed you used brad nails. Would that be easier to use then screws to remove the trim to swap glass out in case of replacing?
@EternalHarvestDecor3 жыл бұрын
I actually just used pin nails and yes the idea is to remove the trim swap out the glass and replace the trim 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Thats a big undertaking! Looks Great! Did you need to glue the stiles and rails together or are the pocket screws enough to hold it together? Thanks for the video.

How thick is the trim? Also I think you said the trim was able to come off if glass broke but I think I see you gluing it down and pin nailing. I'm getting many calls for frosted glass sliding doors , never put glass in before. Was it 2x6 wood you were using?
@EternalHarvestDecor3 жыл бұрын
So this is lumber I milled myself, so the measurements are close to a 2x6. I’m not glueing the glass I’m actually using silicone to help with shock absorption. They are still able to be replaced. I did nail the trim though
@donnygrahambuilds3 жыл бұрын
Nice door, turned out really well. I'm looking around for inspiration for our nursery renovation project. Barndoor for the closet it next. Though, I think we'll opt for poplar rather than ash, I like a little busier wood grain 👍🏽

Yeah that would be super pretty with poplar

Did you put separate glass on both sides I was wondering why don’t you just put the glass in deeper so it looks symmetrical on both sides because we can’t see what the other side looks like

1.) How much did the whole build cost? 2.) Where did u get glass panes? 3.) Could I use the same method for double layered glass panes?
@EternalHarvestDecor2 жыл бұрын
The cost will vary depending g on size and wood choice. Measure and then calculate accordingly. I got the glass from a local paint and glass shop, you can get tempered glass and have them cut it to your specific dimensions. I’m not sure on the double, you could give it a go
