I’m so freaking stoked for your Sprinter Van. Those off-road modifications and those big beautiful tires make all the difference. I can’t wait to see a full on break down of the exterior and interior of your new Sprinter Van. I know you vloged pretty much the entire Van build but I’d still love to see an in-depth break down of the vehicle. I also can’t wait to see all the new adventures you’ll be going on with your new lean mean off-roading machine!

Love the videos. I’ve been over landing in my Jeep Gladiator for several years. As I approach retirement, I have a decision to make on a 144 or 170. I will be keeping my Gladiator to reach those areas that only a fully capable 4x4 can go. Mostly I am solo in my Gladiator. I have young grandchildren that approaching the age I can start taking trips with them. I’ve decided to go with a modular system from Adventure Wagon and a pop top so I can sleep and travel with 4 people comfortably, or 6 with a little bit of modularity. 90% of the time I’ll be alone, but out for 30 days or more at a time, towing my Can Am. My plan is store the can am and trailer around the country while I’m cruising around and don’t need it. I have a full understanding of what I can expect with the capabilities of a van. My rig will have AWD and rear lockers with an Agile Suspension. Sooooo. With your experiences now fully documented, do you believe the 170 would be to big of a vehicle for what you are doing 90% of the time. Thx for any input

I absolutely loved how you scripted the opening of this video. This could easily have been a boring (to me) vid about van gears and car parts, but the personal stories you opened with, coupled with the always superb filming and editing you did, and then tying the contents of the video back to the "why" behind the mods you did--to seek adventures --captured my attention from start to finish.

I've got an extended 170 4x4. It was priced too low to pass up. But it's too long to be a candidate for the offroad stuff you've done. The rear end extends about 5' beyond the axle & the long wheelbase wouldn't benefit much from a lift kit either. But, the interior is huge. It's a full 16' from the driver's seat to the back doors! Although it can't get too far off the beaten path, there's room under the bed for my Zodiac & 20 hp outboard and I haul a dual-sport moto on the rear, which seems like a good compromise to me. I'd guess my toys are a good bit less expensive than an offroad kit for the van, so that's good too. I'm enjoying seeing what you've done with your van. Thanks for taking the time to document & share it with us.
@LivingTheVanLife Жыл бұрын
Whoa! That's an adventure machine as well, Glenn- Plenty of overloading roads out that that won't require the shorter wheel-base, but it is something you'll want to be cognizant of. Got all the toys loaded-up and ready for some exploring. Best of luck to you and Happy Trails! Cheers!
