This is amazing how you made the display case. I had a friend who just passed away at the age of 83 and his 2 Daughters both received Flags and I thought it would be very appropriate if I made the cases for them seeing as how I knew their Father for over 30 years. His wife passed away 11 months ago also. I know both Daughters are going to like this very much.

Thanks Aaron- just the incentive I was looking for. What a wonderful tribute to your grandfather! I will be making one for dads flag. He was stationed in Okinawa with the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict. He was refurbishing heavy equipment stored there after WWII and he just passed at 91.

Great job. Looks better than some I have seen coming from fully stocked shops. I especially like your can do attitude. Don't have all the tools, you may want for a project, so you adapt, and use what you do have. Congratulations on that alone. Splendid ending, with a shout out to the troops. They make our freedom happen, and we should never lose sight of that.

Hey Arron, I have what might seem like a stupid question to seasoned woodworkers but as I am a newbie to woodworking I am having trouble figuring out where to make my cut on a longer than needed board in order to place it in the tenoning jig for the angle cuts; by the way, I made a jig for my table saw following your pattern and it works well, thank you. My question is this, after I have cut one end of the bottom piece of wood for the flag box at 22-1/2degrees and I have a longer than needed piece of wood for the bottom, how does one know exactly where to cut the board off to perform the opposite 22-1/2 degree cut in the tenoning jig? I simply took an eyeball measurement with tape measure to the adjacent side of the first 22-1/2 degree cut, got the measurement and then added this measurement to the other end of the board to figure out where I needed to cut the board off. Just wondering how one would figure this out without a set of plans already in hand. My father's flag needed different measurements for a flag box for some reason.
