I don't care if it makes me sound like a completely incompetent dork but that plan for building the doors just blew me away. What an awesome project. Going over to subscribe right now.

I love the idea!! I need a small shed in my backyard for my veggie garden equipment. I will build one at some point. However, I do not feel comfortable with skill saws. I may buy a small Project DIY razor saws or try and use a hand saw, which would probably take me forever
@EverydayShed4 ай бұрын
It will take more time for sure, but these fence boards are pretty soft, you can do it. Good luck!

Something I just recently found out about pressure treated lumber. There is 2 types. One for ground contact and the other not for ground contact. Check those tags. The ones touching the ground need to be rated for ground contact or they will rot quickly.

Agreed 👍

I would slope the roof to the back instead of the front. You don't want a puddle and erosion in front the the shed making it harder to get the trash bins in and out. And it also allows the doors to be taller which makes it easier to get the bins in and out. The only time I'd want it sloping forward is if I was putting up against a wall. In that case you don't want rain water running down behind.
@EverydayShed4 ай бұрын
Great point! I agree that is a great alternative version to this… thanks!
@thelittlebrownranch91054 ай бұрын
That's my thoughts too. As another alternative, I built a garden shed that sloped to the side so I could catch the rainwater.

Nice shed! But wouldn't it be better to have the slope point towards the back of the shed so when it rains water isn't pouring down on YOU as you open the doors?

Yes! Actually couple folks pointed that out… I’ll work on a new updated build to incorporate everyone feedback. Thanks for the comment!

The “roof” does pivot upwards.
@anneoreilly49004 ай бұрын
@@EverydayShedbut if the garbage can handle is facing you, then you can't access the garage lid when pivoting the shed lid. This shed hides the cans and it's easy to build but a pain in the @ss to use.

surprised about the door. My 2x4 wood treated gate seems to expand and contract during the changing of the seasons and I can imagine this door may be getting difficult to open and close in the near future. Rebuilt the gate and left half an inch for expansion since the old gate just rubbed and hit the post on the latching side.
@EverydayShed4 ай бұрын
I would say, you can run the circular saw in between the doors again if that does help.

I like the look and simplicity but I think you’ll have problems with the doors after one season. Couple of reasons but the main one, your door gap is simply the saw kerf, which is probably 1/8” at most. I can’t see that being maintained outside for long. The platform will shift slightly with time since it’s not on concrete and the frame will shift because of that and because the wood will dry etc., eventually I would guess the gates will sag with time and bind. Even if the frame is stable the gates will sag eventually because you don’t have any cross members, 1/8” gap is not enough for outdoor gates imo, but maybe I’m wrong, either way it can easily be modified and it’s a great build.
@EverydayHomeRepairs4 ай бұрын
I agree, the gap is not big enough to avoid interference for more than a few weeks or month as the pressure-treated wood dries out. Another pass with the Skillsaw could open things up a bit.

would be cool to make it so you put the cans in with the front facing "back" of the shed, and then have steeper sloped roof and put hinged doors so you can push them open, lift the lid, and toss in a trash bag.

You put it waay too close to those utilities boxes. Since your shed structure is in the 10' common area near the street, if the city or utilities companies need to dig there to do repairs or upgrades, your shed would be right in the way and they would make you move it.

He was right, why slant the roof toward the front. Its right up there with buying a Tesla Cybertruck that is ugly for 93K and doesn't meet the 350 miles on a charge. Car and Driver can only get 240 miles. Good luck on a resale. Sorry Bro. It is still ugly.

No one likes the fool who makes taking the icky task of taking out the garbage decidedly more difficult. This shed adds two more dirty surfaces to touch. And requires some real muscle. Kids suddenly will have a legitimate excuse because they can't drag full bins in or out of the structure. There will be puddles of mud and ruts and a difficult, uneven drop where the bins fall out. Imagine all this in rain and snow!
@EverydayShed4 ай бұрын
I can see your point.

How to make taking out the garbage an ordeal every time! This is a dreadful design.
