Thanks for the help. I think I got this thing to work. It seems that the real problem was too much water coming out of nozzles. I put an in-line ball valve between pump and nozzles and reduced flow quite a bit. Results were impressive.

Great video- thanks so much for sharing it! I made a foam machine a little while ago, based on your design, and used it in a tv commercial (a washing machine that filled the room with foam.) Worked great! I did a couple little changes- instead of pvc pipe for the foam solution, I used 3/8" copper tubing for a smaller profile- I thought this would let more air through the fan. And I used compression fittings. Also, I bought a brass three nozzle sprinkler from Best Hardware, and cut off the three brass nozzles and soldered them to the copper tubing. They're nice because you can adjust how fine the spray is by twisting them, and you can point them different directions to coat the inside of the bag thoroughly. Thanks again for sharing! Great design!

If you run into the problem shown with the under-powered blower, just cut back the liquid flow rate. You may not get the foam output rate you'd like, but you can always find a combination that will work to make foam with any blower.

Hey buddy that’s creative. I’m wondering if there would be an easy way for me to pump that kind of foam under a shed in my backyard in order to get rid of some bees that are trying to make a home? I know the soap will work but I’m not sure how to do what you did on a smaller application. Thank you

20' sounds high are you hanging them off of a roof? i would try and find away to put them lower or put the trashcan (water tank) up off of the ground a bit to make up the difference. but 1/2hp pumps should work. also if your renting fans I'm always worried about how your going to keep the weed block bag from being blown off the fan sense you cant attach it to anything, unless the fan already has Velcro on it (some do) if you have 3 machines going of any size it should make a pretty good party.

Once again, an awesome video to help me with my party. Here is my plan for an upcoming party, any advice, tips or changes you have, please let me know:) I am renting 3 1/2 HP fans from home depot. I am buying 2 1/2 HP sump pumps. 2 32 gal garbage cans. And the fans will be about 15-20 ft off the ground. Are the 1/2 HP pumps powerful enough to get the water up that high? Is it over-kill? The party will be about 75-90 people. Are 3 fans enough, or it that overkill?

Hey Jeffry. You said that I need at least 3/4 horse or 3000 cfm? I bought a shop vac brand from lowes that is 1/2 horse at 1600 cfm and my pump is a submersible utility pump that does 1470 gal/hr. Will the pump and fan be adequate? I plan on putting it on the top of my radar arch on my boat. I don't want it to be underpowered. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Do you need to adjust the flow of spray on the nozzles? All I am getting is a ton of water coming out of the bag and very little bubbles. Also water is draining from my tank way too fast. Any advice?
@Viera956 жыл бұрын
The nozzles on my machine didn’t need adjustment. I would say if anything I opened them up wider then the factory setting. I think there’s 3 possibilities for your problem. 1. It’s possible your pump is too powerful you can test this by kinking the hose to temporarily limit the flow of foam solution to see if that helps things. 2. your soap mixture isn’t strong enough or your using the wrong type of soap. Use blue ultra dawn at a 2% mixture to water for testing. So that’s about 2 cups of soap for 5gal of water. 3. If none of the above work it’s likely that your fan is not powerful enough I tried making a foam machine out of a small probably 1/4hp carpet dryer fan one time and all that came poring out of it when testing was a lot of soapy water much like what your describing. check the horsepower of your fan. the fan I like to use is that 1hp model that I linked in the discerption Hope this helps you. If you have any more questions I’m here.
@leooutthenavy6 жыл бұрын
Jeffry Viera thank you for quick response. My fan I know is powerful enough at 1 hp 4400 cfm. The pump might be too powerful at 1/4 hp. I will add a valve inline to throttle back the flow and make sure my solution is at the proper percentage.
@leooutthenavy6 жыл бұрын
Jeffry Viera it appears the mesh I was using was not letting enough air through. It was forcing air, water and bubbles through the fan out the suction side of the fan.
@Viera956 жыл бұрын
shaun hernandez humm that’s not good, what fabric are you using for the bag? Weedblock like I have a link to in the description? Also how long is the bag? The ones I make hang about 1.5feet from the front of the fan. if you make the bag bigger that would be more surface area for the water and air to pass through.

does it matter the length of the bag and do you use warm or cold water?
@Viera956 жыл бұрын
I use Cold water. I’m worried warm would over heat the pump. I haven’t personally tested a larger bag so I’m not sure what would happen but other people have commented that it does not work as well. I try to keep them about 1 - 1.5 foot long
@Viera9511 жыл бұрын
3000gph is just what the company advertizes the pump at but in the fine print you learn that figure is only with the pump running without a garden house adapter or hose attached to it. when you add the hose adapter plus 25feet of hose going 10feet into the air that's where you lose the pumps output. There is a company that makes a inline soap mixer, i can send you a link for but i don't know how well it works.

My foam machine is not working. I have ample sump pump (don't know exact specs but it will shoot water like a fire hose out of swimming pool) with a 1hp/ 4000 cfm fan (much like one in your video). I used 2 irrigation sprinkler heads and the foam recipe in your video. I also used the landscape barrier for the bag. The only real difference is sprinkler heads protrude further out of fan opening 4-6".Problem is water not foam cascades out membrane. Some weak foam/bubbles produced. Theories?

Great work! I'd ask you 2 questions if you could help me before I start building this thing 1) you're basically put soap liquid (mixture with water) into the input hose to the water pump yeah? and it's safe for water pump?? ( I think it's design for just water so im not sure) 2) How do you avoid the backward foam flow back into the air blower? I guess the power from blower never allow foam to go backward BUT weed carpet can also block some foam inside as there're very tiny holes and then resulting in backward flow Thanks a lot! i dont want to break the machine as they both are $$$

Here is video of my foam machine. (youtube/9UHiXjZL3rs) I used 3 sprinkler heads and there is about 10 gallans with one bottle of Dawn. Tough part for me was getting the metal fan shield off as it was on with a rivot. Just drilled it out and replaced it with toggle bolt so I can very easy remove again. Even though the first attempt I did not attach the hose (lol) you can see I used a male to male adapter and went to half inch pvc pipe and easy to hook up and remove. Many Thanks!!!

Hey - thank for a very well detailed video! Quick question that most people will not tell you when you are building a foam machine. You had mentioned a shrub sprinkler kit but about the nozzle threads. This where we went wrong building our foam machine - found out that you really need the nozzles/thread adapters that produced really fine mist. Can be costly buying the professional misting nozzles.... However, your nozzles works with 1/2" thread adapters to fit sprinkler heads. I'm going to try to make our foam machine again using your video. Also we used metal pipe and should of went with PVC...?
@cactuscrawford11 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, Awesome stuff... My question is regarding the pump/water output. Your pump is 3000gal/hr but the actually output at the nozzles is around 300gal/hr. Why? Where does the rest go? It seems like a huge difference. The normal mains water supply here is roughly 5.5gal/min, so if i could mix the fluid inline do i even need a water pump? Or is the 5.5gal/min going to end up more like .5gal/min somehow related to my earlier question?

Please people-if you are going to hang this machine over people's heads-use hardware and slings specifically made for this purpose. Don't simply use rope tied to a tree as shown in this video. It is incredibly dangerous. Also, use a foam solution specifically made for foam party machines. Dishwashing liquid can be very drying to the skin, causing irritation in some people, and will certainly sting the eyes of most people.
@Viera9510 жыл бұрын
i agree with you about the soap although the pro soap will burn your eyes also i definitely prefer to use it. I've never had a problem with my machines coming loose but now when i do foam party's i no longer hang the machines over the crowd instead i blast the foam out to the crowd.
