Nicely done and I do enjoy the outtakes it show your family is just like everyone else. You could use a smart bulb instead a smart outlet that way you can dim it and change colors for different moods all with your phone.

Has to be hard to film in the middle of raising a family, but if you didn’t show it at the end of this video we would never know how hard it’s gotta be for you! Good job Mama- your videos are much appreciated and enjoyed

That wood stabiliser worked wonders with that log, I have use a hand planer before on wood and I can tell you it usually takes off large amounts each time you go over the wood. That stabiliser made the wood so hard the planer just could not get stock in to do it job. All you need to be able to turn the lamp stand on and off is a “in line switch”, they are cheap and most electrical shops or DIY shops will stock them.

Yours is way more sturdy than the ones you buy at the store! The joining pieces on those easily strip out, then the lamp wobbles like a drunken duck.

The combination of your sweet spoken voice, your one of a kind creativity and your skills is truly unique and inspirational. (Your porch ceiling project inspired me to do the same to my basement stairway) Keep building 😊

Since you used threaded schedule 40 galvanized fittings it would have been advantageous to use galvanized threaded schedule 40 steel pipe. It's heavier duty which would help with moving the lamp around.

You could also put an inline foot switch on the lamp

Just put it a regular hanging switch to make it more practical and it would be 100% ready.

IMPORTANT! DANGER! Check with an electrician if you need to earth this. You've added a metal body and if the wire shorts in the conduit, someone can get electrocuted. Appliances with metal housing need to be earthed. The original Ikea lamp probably had plastic housing which means it didn't require earthing. Update: I showed this video to an electrician and he said the metal needs to be earthed.
@WelcometotheWoodsBlog
@WelcometotheWoodsBlog 3 жыл бұрын
All of the wire in this project is inside plastic?
@llplppl
@llplppl 3 жыл бұрын
@Welcome to the Woods The wire is insulated but the insulation can wear, decay or melt. If the wire shorts, the pipe will become live and anyone who touches it will complete the circuit and be electrocuted (ie they will become the earth path, rather than than the earth leakage protection in your breaker box) All your appliances that have metal housing (washer, dryer etc) are earthed for this reason. Things that have plastic housing (hair dryer, glue gun, phone charger etc) won't have an earth wire. In Australia, the earthed appliances have a three pronged plug. I'm not in the USA so I don't know how your safety standards work. But I'd be checking with an electrician to see if you are in danger. If the appliance overheats and melts some of the insulation, you could have a live lamp stand and the world's weirdest hairdo (or worse)

@@WelcometotheWoodsBlog Yes, Feck off G+ is correct, it needs to be grounded. I'd remove the plug on the existing wire, tape/tie it together with the new 3 wire and pull on the socketed end. Rewire the socket, and attach the groundwire inside the reducer. Might as well add a switch while you're making it safe.

Good work mrs woods but a bit boring don’t you think? I think you are more talented than that a black pipe with a wire and clip on hood you need to spice that lamp up the wood is great but everything else is blah! maybe some Salvador Dali for some inspiration some curves on the metal some LED lighted leaves some glass or crystal I don’t know but something artistic or it’s curtains for your channel ???
