Box.. Man I normally never leave comments on videos. Never like videos. Or do that extra stuff.. Just saw it as a waste of time.. But your videos have showed me that taking your time. Doing those extra steps. Really makes a difference. For instance the extra time you take to make these videos to truly help your fans. Actually helps us lol. The extra time you take to perfect little things during your builds makes the end item look amazing. And honestly I hope I can make items in my projects atleast somewhat comparable to yours. Thanks to these videos I honestly think I can. Please keep doing what you do.. It helps me sooo much and gives me confidence and ideas for my passion.. Time to make my dreams a reality, bought my first router table with router and an additional plunge router for over head cuts. And a table saw. So excited. Once again, excellent craftsmanship! I admire the heart and soul you put into every build and video. Just a quick tip, not only for you, but for everyone; When you were centering up the hole for the woofer on the face, there's no need to measure. Lay a straight edge across opposing corners of the face to create two diagonal lines. The point where they cross is the center of the board. 100% accurate every time. That's assuming the piece is 100% square, a.k.a. "true". Speaking of which, measuring across the opposing corners diagonally is also a way to ensure a piece is square. If the distances are not equal, the board isn't square (i.e., not all corners are at a perfect 90* angle).
@CarAudioFabrication10 жыл бұрын
Thanks, that is what I typically do, but I wanted to show the symmetry lines which make sense in the next video showing the templates use. Either way thanks for the support and watching! :)

Each bass box incorporates dimensions specific to a driver's electrical and mechanical properties. In other words, you cannot put just any bass driver into any box. This box looks really awesome, although it is designed for a specific driver, and that driver must be identified and used otherwise it will not work. The other issue is that vented and TL bass boxes tend to have a low f3, and any bass system located inside a vehicle will present a significant rise in frequency response below 50 Hz, producing a boomy sound. The sealed bass systems with and f3 of 50 Hz are preferred in vehicles for this reason. I welcome your thoughts.
@chrisdolton8706 жыл бұрын
I hate sealed boxes cause of the air pressure waves they cause, maybe im just sensitive.
@sethh88925 жыл бұрын
@@chrisdolton870 every sub makes "air pressure waves" thats called SPL, aka, sound pressure level.
@sethh88925 жыл бұрын
Can you properly define "boomy bass"? Tight, punchy, and boomy bass is vaguely defined and is usualy very subjective. If the box is built properly, you won't have the supposed "boomy bass" you proclaim.
@ohyeahyeah14005 жыл бұрын
@@sethh8892 I agree with Chris Dalton, I know that ported enclosures are much louder but with a sealed enclosure in a car you get a weird pressure feeling in your ears, even if it's at low volume.
@sethh88925 жыл бұрын
@@ohyeahyeah1400 you'll get that from both, it's probably because Port enclosures can be tuned and therefore are generally tuned lower. (From 30-40) however most sealed enclosures stay around 40 and 50. High frequencies like 40 and 50 played can enclosure can create that. Also ears that aren't used to SPL will often do that "just because". Sealed closures are much more accurate but are extremely inefficient. I've never had that weird pressure that they supposedly cause, they've always sounded weak and boring to me. It all depends on tuning.

They’ve worked decently but that’s not good enough. My slot ported 34Hz did well but @ only 6cu^... the pressure broke the box at opposing ends. The sealed boxes were pretty impressive for only 4/5 cubes. However the bottoms both got split. 2-Audiopipe TXX-BD4-15 1-Audiopipe APMN-2000 300amp alt Walmart battery 🤓 BIG 3 2-awg wire, just a grocery getter. I found your channel this afternoon on accident. It’s very interesting. I’ve been binge watching!😂🤣 Back in 1999-2003 I was big into car stereo setups and equipment. Then I totaled my car, could only afford a single cab Toyota truck and so I packed my equipment away. Well, in the last 15 years my ears have lost most of their taste for crazy bass. Which is a bummer because I’ve still got my old equipment and a full wood shop! I want to build one of your designs but I’d never use it!!😂🤣 Wonder if my missus wants a pounding stereo in her Equinox?... 😂 👍🏻👍🏻 The last box I made was in 2001 and it was the ported box that was suggested and drawn up in the owners manual for the 2001 model Kicker Soloberic L7 12”. I had two powered by a 2001 model DX700 mono amp. I had an extra Optima Yellow Top and a 2 farad capacitor. Plus my components and a ZR240 to power them. Pretty badass for its time! I’ve still got the amps and subs but the components, crossovers, capacitor and battery and cables and fuse blocks have since “disappeared”. I should sell my 12”s and buy one badass 8” woofer and make a layered box of yours for under the back seat of my truck. Power it with the DX700. Thing is I used to listen to “acid techno” and “industrial metal”. Now I listen to mostly Bluegrass and the stand up bass REALLY drowns out everything else when you’ve got a woofer of any kind. You probably have some way to tune it tho I’d imagine. Man has stuff changed in the last 15 years!! Your channel is great!! I subbed and am looking forward to future builds and installs!!👍🏻👍🏻

Nice work, CAF! The grooves for the extending brace-walls, really impressed me. Have not seen that before! You really have a nice tool setup now! You should consider a pneumatic nail-gun, if you don't have one already. I used to use a cheap one, with the thinnest nails. It's useful for tacking pieces together when building stuff with glue, and attach wood templates when routing. I have never used those red safety handle things, but when routing large pieces, I think it would be safer and more solid to just grab the wood directly. The handles are probably great for smaller pieces, where you have to grab close to the bit, though! Just my thoughts :)

Thanks man! I do have a pnumatic nail gun, I just try to limit using tools that I know many might not own. I do use the router though because I feel lt is a must own tool. On larger pieces it is nice to just use your hands, but the idea is if the router suddenly grabs the material, it just pulls it out from under the push block, no harm done. In all honesty I feel much more confident using the router with them than without.
