What's really cool about mixing resistance training with fat loss is how it goes beyond just changing numbers on a scale-it's about personal transformation. When you start to see those changes, not just in muscle tone but also in how you carry yourself, it's a huge boost to your self-worth. It’s like, you’re not just working out; you’re building a stronger, more confident you. And that kind of change affects more than just your physical appearance; it seeps into how you view yourself and your abilities.

@@tl0470 if you're not in a caloric deficit, you probably won't. As Mike said, you don't burn a ton of calories through resistance training. But if you are in a constant deficit, you should see some fat loss weekly🙂 The bigger the deficit, the bigger fat loss. But don't go crazy low on calories, that's not healthy at all, and potentially a bit dangerous for your body. Hope it helps.

“All women are hypo-gonadal… You’re not a candidate for rapid muscle growth”… Never heard that argument phrased that way and is very on point
@wombat52525 ай бұрын
Oh women can build the muscle just as quickly. The thing is that women generally don't train as hard as a man does. You'll often hear and see men screaming and groaning through exercises and pain just to push through the sets. You'll barely see 1 out of 10,000 females doing the same to achieve the muscle growth. Not to mention, they always use too LITTLE weight. They're afraid to put on weight heavy enough to make them groan and push hard. You'll see countless women at the gym leg pressing just 1 or 2 plates but they easily do 20+ reps like nothing. Hardly ever do you see them pushing it by adding so much they struggle.

@@wombat5252that’s an interesting take, but scientifically false. Women can certainly get strong. A girl I used to date, can deadlift almost 455lbs. A woman can’t get strong as fast as a man. Ive started doing wheight training after loosing over 110 pounds. I had a lovely time running. Running was impossible at my wheight, so being able to run, jump, and not feel pain? It was like a dream. Couldnt belive it. Ive been runing half marathons in an alright-ish time. Nothing special, but for me it is. Now Ive shifted to resistance trainig and I can deffinitely feel som different benefits. Im still losing wheight. One of the benefits I never really noticed, was how much better my back has become. Didnt realy think it was that bad with pain, but it apperently was. Just a month worth of resistance training and high strectching (wanted to do the splits and im getting there) has made an almost unreal difference. Wheight loss alone made a huge difference, but already feeling much more agile and less fragile after a couple of months is wonderfull. I dont think im growing all that much, but it feels like Im gaining controll, power and become more and more atuned with my body. I know I can trust it to actually do things without breaking. Back rows, deadlifts, even a few modest pullups with good form is possible. I know its nothing special, but 4 years ago, I had lost all hope at even walking painless.

For every person that thinks trt/steroids “get in shape with less or no effort” theres a dozen laughing that people still think that in 2024. Are you afraid of touching the same door handle as a gay person and winding up gay? Cuz thats how silly thinking trt is an ace up your sleeve for citing it as an excuse for results of a physical transformation. I have a 45 year old client who has been on trt for a year and has been “training” that looks like fkn trash. Weve been working together two months and his waist has shrunk 4”. He said he hasnt worn 36s since high school. The difference? I make him actually train. I write diet plans for him. Those two things changed his body and life in 8 weeks. I used to lift weights in my 20s and early 30s, and getting back into weight training is what my body needed. So I ended up with like 200g protein and almost zero fat and a bit of carbs. felt like shit. Zero energy and sluggish. Traded some of that protein for fat and some extra carbs and I felt wayyyy better. Kept to 0.8-1g/lb protein and made sure to hit my fat target each day, then filled the rest with carbs. Night and day difference. Eating a ton of protein doesn’t help anything. On a bulk it doesn’t matter since you have tons of calories to play with, but on a cut you need to make sure you save room for healthy carbs and fats because they’re essential for your bodies function and energy.

Used to be low carb as well. Until I realized you can eat whatever you want as long as you are disciplined with portion sizes and counting macros. No need to be on an elimination diet to be healthy. Lifting heavy helps too and for that you want carbs because they release insulin, which is massively anabolic.
@nemesis78845 ай бұрын
@@garrettpeters2547 true but for me it just works better, i like eating large quantities so its way easier to overeat on carbs, i have more stable energy, high carb density foods tend to be less health anyway, and usually the more you eat of something to more you start to crave it...and im also not a big fan of rice or pasta but really love vegtables...so it just works for me...but in the end you need to find what works for you

@nemesis7884 its really easy to overeat fat, your meal can be twice the weight if its carbs vs fat. As long as those carbs are satiating, like oatmeal, potatoes, and beans, all of which are healthy too.
@dramm335 ай бұрын
@@semi-mojoto me it's the opposite. If I eat carbs, I want to eat again in a couple hours and I don't feel saciated. If I eat fat I feel satiated and can go for hours without eating again, to the point I have to make an effort to eat again.

Well, according to my last in body report, between 040224 and 061924, I gained .9 lb of skeletal muscle mass, and lost .7 lb of fat. Sadly, I simultaneously gained 1.2 lb of weight, apparently due to water weight. I am a 74 yo woman having worked with weights with a trainer for 4 years. I also walk 1 to 1-1/2 mi 2-3 times a week. I am on HRT. I would like to achieve more hypertrophy while losing belly fat. But the gains/losses are SO SLOW!

I started working out consistently about 18 months now back then i was around 160lbs skinny fat sloppy. As of yesterday im 218lbs and all i been doing is dumbell/bodyweight workouts this whole time. I feel like my skinny fat belly is going away but thats literally the only place on my body where fat is visible. Everything besides my belly is pretty much muscle at this point. My biggest problem now is the 3k calories i need to eat daily...irs not easy at all 😂

I am 51, 5'9" and 202 lbs. I lift 4 days per week, about 1.5 hrs per session. I have gained a lot of size, but I am also 25 lbs overweight and I can't shed it. I have absolutely no idea what to eat. I have been told I don't eat enough (I use my fitness pal to track my calories and keep my intake to just under 2,000 calories a day) but that seems counterintuitive. I know once I drop the weight, all of the muscle will "pop", but I don't want to stop lifting and replace it with cardio and I'm afraid to eat more like some say. What in the actual fuck do I do!

That has jack shid to do with anything. If youre fat youre going to be fat on trt and gh. In fact if youre that outta shape they wont prescribe it. If you think getting on exogenous drugs is a cheat code youre in for a rude awakening. The work is a constant in this equation. And before you start dreaming up a rebuttal, yes there are tons of people on full blown courses of peds that are fat and look terrible. Thats a personal issue not drugs. Getting huge and ripped even on gear is more work than 90% of the population is willing to exert which is why about 5% of them have it.

I (almost completely) stopped working out for the last 2 or 3 weeks. Did a cut. Trying to get my abs to really show. I'm pretty sure I lost a few lbs of muscle, and I don't have much to lose. I'm 6'2 and between 170 and 175 usually. I was pushing 175 and weighed at 168 after. I was noticeably weaker on my workouts, had to drop down a notch in weights and didn't even get the same reps. I hate my body, or maybe everyone has this problem of losing muscle so fast and taking months to gain any strength. IDK, either way, gotta keep at it, consistently.

I appreciate the information. I’m wondering if as a woman, I can still build muscle with zero testosterone in my body? I’ve been very sick and had to have my ovaries removed. I take synthetic estrogen, and have tried taking testosterone gel, but it didn’t absorb for some reason. I gained a lot of weight from the hormone loss and being sick and depressed. I’m trying to lose it now, and have started doing some weights and Pilates. I have very low energy and muscle aches from the lack of testosterone. Just wondering how hard it will be for me to build muscle and keep my bones strong. I’m only 42 year old.

In my expereince, people are able to both lose weight and gain muscle because they eat enough calories to still build muscle while also in a deficit to lose weight. Once they get around 2500 calories to maintain it gets alot harder.

I know i probably should hire a trainer or visit a Nutricionist, but imma ask anyway. I've lost 20 kgs mostly by running. I also was extremely sedentary (and actually still am, but i lift weights. other than that im sedentary). I am probably around 22-23% body fat. I dont look muscled at all ("dont look like i lift" unless you see my naked arms which kinda do show some muscle) How do i decide if i want to lose a bit more bodyfat or just focus on building the muscle? If you "dont look like you lift" you'd guess that i am undermuscled enough to gain muscle while losing fat? I've been training "going through the motion" for a while, but started actually putting in intensity/effort (and neved missing a session) since the beginning of the year. I gained around 6kg since then and definitely gotten stronger but still look like shit (too small sometimes, but definitely a lot of fat there) Im pretty sure the training intensity is OK for now because as i said i have gotten stronger and for example in my arms when im moving them around, or showering etc i see night and day difference. I also get sore almost every session on pretty much every muscle group. But i want to get rid of the fat and dont want to look like im sick or lose whatever little muscle i've gained

If somebody is morbidly obese the best thing to do is to just get the weight off by any means possible.. If I guy is 5'10 and 300 pounds of blubber and has a goal to lose 100 pounds in a year building muscle tissue shouldn't even be a priority in my opinion.. Once you get all the blubber off you can build muscle and reshape your body

Tracks exactly with both times I put in the effort to lose fat and build muscle at the same time. Both times there was an flip in appearance from fat guy look to guy who works out but is a bit overweight. In my case it was arms and legs first, abdomen last. First time I did a lot of endurance training thinking it would help burn calories. It helped but the benefit I most got out of it was getting to a point cardiovascular that I could do a lot more even when overweight. Having the cardio endurance made activities more enjoyable as I was not always out of breath.

@jarrad57235 ай бұрын
Heya mate! First step, track your macros. You need to be in a calorie deficit for the amount of work you are doing, and you can't just eyeball your food as you very easily be eating in a surplus by accident. Watch Jeff Nippard videos on what to eat and how to train. Watch Sam Sulek videos on a good training intensity. Do cardio and lift weights at different times, making sure you eat before you lift weights! Also, cut any alcohol out, it will make a huge difference!
