I love that. I at try to find a way to put this on my No-weld rod rack.

Great idea. I am the king of breaking taps at work.
@TheWeekendAngler2 жыл бұрын
I figured the likelihood of breaking a tap in a $2 plug was next to nil. If I'm going to break off a tap it will be in something that cost me a lot of money. Lol.

@@TheWeekendAngler yeah thats some pretty soft metal.

I just built 2 and the cost was a a lot more than $25 , $180 (thanks Brandon) for 2 built the same way with the exception of the 12" vertical pipe I went with a 30" so the rods hit you in the stomach when you stand on the back deck vs the shins. I was afraid that I would have a guest bend over to grab a rod and they fall over. My only complaint was the small base. I will look to see if I can find a bigger plate.

Got all the parts and have the first one about done. I ordered a drill bit and tap through Lowes. The drill ate the first cap like candy....almost through the 2nd one and boom, wouldn't cut no more. Waiting on a drill bit sharpener to get up and running again. Crazy Great idea!!
@TheWeekendAngler Жыл бұрын
Yeah it could be a little rough on drill bits. The Cobalt drill bits do good but they cost quite a bit more

The male pipe plugs I got are solid top to bottom where yours are hollow on the thread side. But I'm getten er done and loving it!
@TheWeekendAngler Жыл бұрын
@@TerryClark-q6qyours, though tougher to drill and tap, will be able to withstand a higher load than mine. They'll basically be bulletproof. Great work!

Nice work. Only problem I have with it is I don’t like the size of the small base plate. I’d prefer a base twice the size to distribute the strength of the base more

As soon as we get them put on his boat I will. I finished this project in the fall and he put his boat in storage for the season

I’m not sure what hardware store you shop at but that cost around 40$ at a normal hardware store not to mention lowes or Home Depot I’d rather bu them already made that’s cool tho

Those were prices at Menards. It probably depends a lot on where you live. I'm in the extreme Southern part of Illinois. I was out in Denver, CO earlier this year and prices on everything were absolutely ridiculous. I bought a set of MulTbar Rod racks for my boat. To me, they're worth every penny. These were made for a buddy who didn't want to spend a ton of money, and I know a lot of others don't either.

Can all be done with hand tools. If you don't own any tools, DIY videos probably aren't for you.

Way too expensive and too much trouble to built. I can get fairly cheap rod holder for less and no trouble building.
