I had got a free old oak,barrel, and it needs to restored, and repaired and reassembled ,as a side project for me to do but I don't really know what I need to do. The old oak barrel has 6 bands with it.

What are the sizes of the wood? And do you burn the middle of the wood?
@thecajuncoopersworkshop72798 жыл бұрын
+Andres Correa Looking at the video I would say he’s using 1/2" thick oak. As for the charring yes you would burn the inside of each stave. This charring would give a dark color to the whiskey fermenting inside of it. The more charring you have the darker the alcohol will become.

@samirabuzuluf92158 жыл бұрын
15 pieces the angle will be 12 degrees. almost divide 360 degrees on the number of the pieces than divide to 2 360/15 = 24.....................24/2 =12 degrees will be the angle

whats the angle of the edges
@xSgtScruffy4 жыл бұрын
I know this comment is four years old but you're looking for about 12 degrees. Take a circle which is 360 degrees, we know they have 15 staves for this barrel. 360÷15=24 degrees. Each stave will need two cuts, so divide 24 by 2, giving us 12 degrees per cut.
