Great job, I like that! FYI Urban myth on how the term a "shot" of whiskey gets its name: In the 19th century American west. A single drink of whisky in a small 1oz glass cost 12cents and so did the average cost of a single bullet. So if a cowboy was short of cash he could trade a "shot" from his cartridge belt for a drink of whiskey.

Great vid and project! I've made something similar before. I used bamboo skewers to burn the bands in. The skewers will deform around the glass and when the friction builds up it will begin to burn just like a wire friction burner will. But I did the burning before hollowing. It gives a really nice even line, but it does cut into the wood a bit. I had to give it a guide line with the tip of a skew to keep it on the rounded part of the cup. I've even used metal coat hangers before.

That’s really cool! Is there any concern using oak for something like this since it’s so porous?
@CarlJacobson3 жыл бұрын
Someone suggested using white Oak, it's not as porous and it's what they make the Whiskey barrels out of. I'm sure a denser wood would be a better choice for a project like this.
