Great job on the sauna. 5:28 you can see the shrubbery moving from the shockwave from shooting. Pretty cool.

I would have thought pouring water on the wood stove would run the risk of cracking it. Learned something new!
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
No the stove should never crack.

Great video, Lots of work but defiantly worth it. Hope the winter is treating you good up there. Headed up there to do some ice fishing on the manistique lakes at the end of the month. Be safe!

I so need a sauna/bath house at camp. Showers outside at the flowing well are cold even in summer.

Thought for sure we’d see a snow bank roll!!!!

Marie and I did that once. Every one of my muscles rejected the snow and cramped up.

Nice job Dave and family! I have a sauna at the cabin that is very similar and love it! I have to be honest, when I first heard you saying sow-na I thought something was wrong with you like maybe one too many Spotted Cows! Thanks for the explanation. Does the sow-na have a lock on the inside in case two people want to use it in private? Thanks for the video!
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mark and yes we can lock the door from the inside if needed!

Awesome project. Here, in the suburbs, the Zoning Board would have shut us down as soon as the pad went down 😕. Even here in the "Live Free or Die" state.

The Finns have a neat culture. I guess it makes sense that so many Finns immigrated to the UP given the similar natural environment to Finland. Do you know if where you live is considered "Taiga" or "Boreal" forest? Nice upload.
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Yes they do and no I'm not sure the type of forest we are considered to live in. Tree wise it is very mixed, pine, maple, spruce, oak, cedar, birch. Land wise it is very mixed, swap to high land. Lakes and rivers, GREAT lakes - we have it all in the U.P.

Hey Dave, tell Big Cat Daddy Walleye that we appreciate his music. Have you heard that most Finns use popple for benches as it doesn't have the splintering (ouch) effect like other lumber? It really bugs me when people mispronounce sauna. To my way of thinking a sawna is electric heated whereas a true sauna is wood fired. Another great and educational video. Thank you.
@KnettersPracticalOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Melvin. Yes our bench at the camp is poplar. I like how you define the different pronunciations by the stove type. I'll tell Big Cat.

If you put your rocks in a steel pan the size of the top of the stove you'll get better heat and less mess

Bench suppose to be higher, minimum 5 feet. And kiuas/ stove, hmmm? Pine and heat= resin, spruce is better. Sauna is of course OK if you like it. Have anybody said that You speak sound like The Duke?
