What was said @13:30 is added in the errata of 13-7-20 with Knight Lances on page 106 of the Imperial Knight Codex. (also applies to Chaos of course) ‘If your Warlord has the Imperial Knights keyword, Imperial Knights Super-heavy Detachments in your army gain the following Command Benefits: ‘Select one of the following: +3 Command Points if your Warlord is part of this Detachment; +6 Command Points if your Warlord is part of this Detachment and has the Titanic keyword.’

The best use of the auxillary support I think is to include a flyer. If you need 3 fliers you'll need 2 detachments, and i guess you could take a patrol but then you need the HQ and troop choice.

AFAIK auxiliaries don't get access to faction keywords or benefits; I can't run 3 Doom Scythes in Sautekh Dynasty to gain access to the FKNMELTALLYOURINFANTRY (forgot the real name) Stratagem if I put one of them in an auxiliary. The removal of Air Wing really sucks for Doom Scythes; I haven't really been able to get them to work in any of my 9th Ed lists at all, whereas I ran an Air Wing of them all the time in 8th.

Could you please make a beginner video on what kinds of things you need when you build a list? What are some examples of roles that need to be filled and how they can be used on the table? What are the strengths to having say alot of tanks vs having alot of fast attack? Is it good to have a balance? I know this might go into tactics but I struggle with knowing what I should be putting in my list! Great videos guys, very helpful and I hope to see more in the future! It's been very welcoming and very thorough and i appreciate it. I have no idea what to add to my Idomitus box and theres a ton of options !
@aaronsilva19604 жыл бұрын
Well, if you have an indominus box, then you have access to space Marines and necrons. Either way, indominus only gives you one troops choice for each army, so you'll want to get 2 more troop choices. Space Marines have a ton of troop choices available, though if you're looking to be very competitive, you should stick with intercessors. Keep in mind that you can run 5 man squads of intercessors, so one box gets you all the troops you'll need. If you're building up necrons, you only have one troop choice other than warriors (gw really favors space Marines in terms of new models) which would be Immortals. I'm not a necron player, but I believe you can run two squads of 5 immortals, which again means you only need 1 box to get there. The reason why I'm suggesting you get 2 more troop choices is so that you can make a battalion, which is the most flexible detachment available. However, from there, you can really do whatever you want. Battalions have 3 slots for fast attack and heavy support, and 6 slots for elites. Just get models you like and want to build/paint, and you shouldn't have much trouble working them into your army. I'm not really the best person to ask if you want to be super competitive, bit if you're just playing pickup games with your friends, this advice should serve you well. If you want to know which models are "good", I would urge you to check out 1d4 chan or reddit, as I'm sure they could help you better than I can.

Having a lot of fast attack can help with contesting and holding objectives early game whereas running a lot of tanks can help with getting a lot of firepower at the expense of pushing objectives so a balance of both is good

Use Tzeengors on flying disks as your fast attack. Pestigors for your tanky option. Khorngors for your elite anti-infantry choice. And my personal favorites Slangors as your big boys. Your opponent will surrender before the might of the beasts, knowing you are the Superior man. Alternatively, convert a entire army of CSM into Beastmen. If you want that competitive edge.

9:50 I know we are already at tenth, but as a 3rd edition player browsing the new rules at ninth, the way these (very core) rules were phrases confused me to no end. It was obvious what was intended, but despite the verbosity of the rules, it still left them open to the very weird interpretation that you could take almost any model with in almost any detachment a SM tactical squad within your IG army, for example. This couldn't be right... but I also heard GW wanted to make 40k army lists very "open". Why GW left this (very central) rule so open to this very general interpretation baffles me. Thank you for clearing this up, but it still leaves me puzzled: where is this clarification written down? Or is it people just agreed to because the other interpretation is just a bit silly?

I've got a friend who plays nurgle deamons and with blast rules he can't really do his usual list, I've reccomended more obscure ways i.e. Run mainly cavalry or vehicles.
@Sklertic4 жыл бұрын
The problem is that the rules in the codex gives out bonuses for detachments containing units from 1 specific god, so you can't mix and match your forces, thus you're forced to make several detachments, which will drain your cp. It's a rather big detriment to an army that is also hit hard by the blast rule and overall isn't very competitive :)

Bois I gotta question: Can warptime be cast on a unit after a unit enters from reserve. In the movement part of core rules it doesn't forbid it.
@Headywon4 жыл бұрын
AFAIK yes you can do that and in fact *SHOULD* do that. The only issue I can find is possibly the way the rules for reinforcements are worded, "Reinforcement units cannot make a Normal Move, Advance, Fall Back or Remain Stationary in the *turn* they arrive for *any reason* ..." Warptime is worded "That unit can immediately move *as if it were its Movement phase* ." And the out-of-phase rules state "If such a rule explicitly mentions to do so *as if it were a different phase* than the current one, then any rules that are normally used in that phase apply..." It is a bit vague the way they worded all of that but I still think that you can do it.
@roryday44 жыл бұрын
In 8th edition this was FAQ'd that a unit couldn't move at all after arriving from reserves, as far as I'm aware the intention is for this to remain the same
@raymondbenjamins58844 жыл бұрын
@@Headywon Based on that wording, I'd say you can't do that. Warptime would make it act like the Movement phase, so the Movement phase rules apply, which means you can't do anything, because the Normal Move, Advance, Fall Back and Remain Stationary actions can't be used in that turn.

Question, for the dice re roll stratagem. Do you reroll all dice or just the ones you want?
@miniwargaming4 жыл бұрын
That depends. If it is a roll that requires 2 dice, such as charge rolls, psychic tests, or deny the witch, you must reroll both dice. Otherwise you can only reroll one hit, wound, or saving throw. The easiest way to remember this is that all rules are written assuming you’ll resolve attacks one at a time. If you roll 50 attacks together and then use the stratagem, you only get to reroll one of those because they are 50 individual hit rolls, not one hit roll that is 50 dice.

Is there a reason to not take a detachment of space wolves and a detachment of ultramarines?
@aaronsilva19604 жыл бұрын
Aside from the loss in command points for having to take 2 detachments? No. Just keep in mind that auras or stratagems from one faction won't affect the other.

CP being spent for the extra detachment, but since they are both space marines, you still get combat doctrines

9:23 Is that true that in matched play the Faction keyword needs to be more specific than say "Imperium" or "Chaos", as page 280 of the rulebook doesn't say that?
@WinterOrb4 жыл бұрын
Read page 280 under Muster Armies again. This is listed there.

@@WinterOrb Ah yeah, I was word blind between that and page 245 on detachments. Well that sucks. Rogue Traders leading armies just aren't viable, which is a shame. Just keep to open play then.

In a detachment, so you can’t run a unit of blood letters with a chaos lord in a detachment, but you can run a patrol with a squad of chaos space marines and the chaos lord and another patrol with a unit of blood letters and an hq choice

When he says “ if you want to play a XX thousand point game , warhammer isn’t the game , play apocalypse “ paraphrasing . Does he mean another set of Miniatures I have to buy, or a different version of the game with my 40k toys ? So confused .

Can someone please explain to me what Battle Forged really means? I'm having some confusion with my friend. Does every unit in every detachment need to share a Faction keyword in order for it to be battle forged? Or do you keep battle forged status if one of the detachments is unaligned?
@Velnix214 жыл бұрын
The entire army has to share a faction keyword, and the units in any given detachment within your army must also share a faction keyword (which doesn’t have to be the same keyword being shared between detachments). Example, I could have an army that is two Battalion detachments of Space Marines. So these two detachments will share the keyword “Adeptus Astartes” and share the “Imperium” keyword as well. But I could then have either specific Battalion detachment being their own Space Marine Chapter, ie: Ultramarines, Blood Angels, Iron Hands, etc., or I could even have both detachments being from the same Chapter. If I do that, I go from having an “Adeptus Astartes” army to being an army of a specific Space Marines Chapter, because all detachments in my army are of the same chapter.

@@Velnix21 Thank you that is very helpful. What does it mean when it says the Faction keyword in common cannot be Chaos, Imperium, Aeldary, Ynnari, or Tyranids? Does this mean if I have two detachments, one Imperial Guard and the other Space marines, that this is illegal because the only keyword they have in common is Imperium?
@Velnix214 жыл бұрын
@@ssvishnov The "cannot be Imperium, Chaos, Tyranids, etc." rule is only for the specific detachments within your army. The detachments are allowed to share those keywords, like your example Imperial Guard and Space Marines are able to be ran as a "Imperium" army. The other thing is specifically for Space Marine Chapters, is that they have these other buffs called Doctrines that they can only use if the entire army is only Space Marines. On top of that, most of the Space Marines Chapters also have their own Chapter specific "Super Doctrines" that can only be used if the entire army is from the same specific Space Marines Chapter.

Play a few games borrowing some minis - most seasoned 40k players have more than 1 army. Make sure you like the game first before investing hundreds of dollars, and more importantly many hours building an army...
@raymondbenjamins58844 жыл бұрын
This. If you already know someone that plays, there's a good chance you can just play a few games with them using their armies before spending a lot of money just to find out if you like the game. Most people would be more then happy to introduce you to the game.
