Angela's Kitchen Garden

Күн бұрын

Today I built a wooden gate with chicken wire at the allotment to keep the rabbits out of my plot.
I started my allotment in February 2016 and it was mostly weeds and grass. I make daily videos of my progress and I aim to grow as much of my own organic fruit, vegetables and cut flowers as I can so I can be as self sufficient as possible.
I also grow organic fruit and vegetables in my kitchen garden at home and keep jumbo coturnix quail for organic fresh eggs.
So check back tomorrow for the next update.
Thank you for watching
Angela

Good job! Especially glad to see you installed your diagonal correctly! A diagonal brace must go from latch to bottom hinge, which you did correctly. If you had placed it at the top hinge and ran it to the latch-side bottom, the gate would wobble and eventually break.

Excellent, thank you! One problem I noticed is that judging by the nickel colour of the screws you used, these are for interior use only. It won't really matter, but they are more prone to go rusty in a short space of time compared to the grey-coloured outdoor screws.

I have been looking for a simple door to put on my chicken run. I finally found your video!! Thank you so much! It seems so simple and watching you do it gave me the courage to do it myself. You’re amazing and I love how humble you are

Thx Angela. Really simple, light weight & inexpensive. We’re using same vinyl coated wire and round fence posts. Just starting, but needed good plan for gate. You did it for us! Nice garden.

Looked through a TON of gate plans here on You Tube looking for a very tall, wire-covered gate for my chicken pen, to no avail, until I found this simple, well-thought out plan from 5 years ago that you came up with: thank you! I can do this and will today--awesome!!!

Thank you Paul. I really enjoyed building it. I think I might start getting a little more adventurous with my projects now!! Someone on my plot built a little mud kitchen for their daughter out of pallets and it looks amazing so I was thinking I could build something similar for myself as a potting bench so watch this space 😀
